His contract is up at the end of the year (as was Nomar's last year). The thinking goes, get something for him before he is a free agent.

 

This type of move would let Youk play every day.

Yeah what he said. Give them Millar instead. It said in the article that Millar was also an option. We have a decent replacement for Millar, but not for Mueller. Damn all these Millars and Muellers and Millers are making my head spin.

From what I have seen of Youkilis (which I have to say is very little) I have liked. But I am ready to see him take over for Bill Mueller? Not really. I just don't think trading away a big bat like Mueller's is a smart idea. Which brings me back to my original point, getting rid of Millar makes more sense to me, but that’s me. But these are rumors so we'll just have to sit and watch what happens.

I think that if this deal goes through, it will be in a bit altered form. I'm not really worried about it. Besides, as the past few summers have shown, the deal that the Red Sox are going to make is generally the one you don't read about in the newspaper.

Yeah maybe we can just get them drunk enough to just hand over Santana without a fight. If that doesn't work we could just use force persuasion. You will hand over Johan and the Wookie to me. :D

I really don't want to see Mueller simply because we have no evidence of what youks could do in the playoffs. Theo should really explore every option for Bellhorn before even thinking about moving Ballgame.

Mueller right now is my favorite player, although just saw outside the lines nightly and they were documenting schilling and damn he is a warrior I never knew it was so tough, and i'd hate too see him traded. I know we have bullpen problems, but embree is gone and we got bradford. All we need is a closer till foulke gets back. Yes foulke I think we should give him another chance.

Mueller is the man and I hope he stays a Red Sox. He is one of the best fielders they have and he won the batting title not to long ago. He will get hot again when it counts.
