Should come to no surprise to anyone that this year in Sports Illustrated's "The Fortune 50" (where SI lists the 50 highest-paid U.S. athletes) six New York Yankees made the list:

#11: Alex Rodriguez

Salary/Winnings: $20,076,000

Endorsments: $6,000,000

#12: Derek Jeter

Salary/Winnings: $19,650,000

Endorsments: $6,000,000

#22: Mike Mussina

Salary/Winnings: $19,000,000

Endorsments: $500,000

#27: Randy Johnson

Salary/Winnings: $16,000,000

Endorsments: $2,000,000

#37: Kevin Brown:

Salary/Winnings: $15,714,000

Endorsments: $500,000

#39: Jason Giambi:

Salary/Winnings: $15,500,000

Endorsments: $500,000

As another 'slap in the face' is that only one Yankee player is in the top ten in giving back, that being of course Derek Jeter giving $742,313 anual outlay to help sponsor after school programs in NYC and his hometown of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Another pathetic part is that within 39 of all of sports players you have SIX of them and only THREE are arguably worth the money. It's just all seems pathetic to me, thanks for once again reminding me how spoiled some of these New York players are, SI. If they listed the top 75, every Yankees player may be on the list.

Yeah, I read this, the amount that some of these people make is wicked ridiculous... like Tiger Woods making upward of 80 mil to play golf... thats pretty brainless.

I actually wasn't aware Moose made that much. Wow is he REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLY overpayed. And they think the Giambi contract is a problem.

Wow - Favre gets shafted... for as good as he's been for as long as he's played, and that's all he makes? Wow.

I know he's not getting shafted in the cash department, but looking at some of the other QBs on the list...
