Any news of what will happen to Timmy after this season? i really want to see him finish out his career in Red Sox red. He's done nothing but sacrifice for the Sox..

He was signed to a contract extension earlier this season. I believe it was to last through 2006 with an option for him to pitch one more year for as long as he wants.

ah, he did sign it. I heard of that, but never knew the outcome till now

Yeah but i think he should go to the bull pen because he could play every game with that knuckle ball

yeah and no. I think he totally deserves a starting role, being with his time with the sox, but more importantly, his continuous flexablity with Sox management. Yeah, not to mention he's still on top of his game
Posted
honestly, even if they were to put him in the bullpen i dont think he would mind much. i mean even during the alcs he gave up his start to pitch some relief for us. he's a team player. and i agree pesky, he is still on top of his game....

If we want him in the bull pen fine he can pitch there between starts if needed but I think he should stay in the rotation, plus the Yankees can't hit him.
Posted
I think so because he could play a lot and we need a relief pitcher taht can play alot besidess Timlin and Myers so it works out!! And we also have the second shittiest bullpen in the league!!!!!

He should be there 5th starter though! Right now it should be Clement, Arroyo, Miller, Wells, then Wakefeild in my opinion!! Or wells 5th and Wakefeild 4th!

He should be THEIR 5th starter though! Right now it should be Clement, Arroyo, Miller, Wells, the WakeFIELD in my opinion!! Or Wells 5th and WakeFIELD 4th! ......

Ok anyways as much as I don't want to see it I think the only logical thing is to send Wake to the pen because he's the only one whomakes sense to take out at this point. He should start against the Yankees though because he does own them.

Posted
Yeah when they get Schilling back then definetly send him to the pen!!! IF he takes on the yankees though they might wanna start him!!! When Schilling comes back it should be Schilling, Clement, Miller, Arroyo, Wells or something like that!

I've said this before and I'll say it again: I don't think Wake in the bullpen is a good idea.

He's so inconsistent, would you be confident throwing him into a close game? If he has 1 bad inning in a start (which he almost always has), he can rebound and turn in a great game. If he has one bad inning in a relief appearance, that could (and probably would) cost the team the game because when he's bad, he's REALLY bad.

Also, having Wakefield in the rotation gives Tek a much needed day off every fifth day (when Mirabelli's healthy), and keeps Doug fresh. Having Wakefield in the games sparingly eliminates this platoon situation. Not that it's that big a deal, Mirabelli could easily catch Schilling or Wells, but if you start the game with Varitek, then bring on Tim Wakefield in relief, you've got a major decision on your hands: Leave Tek in to catch Wake, which almost proved disastrous in the ALCS last year, or bring in Mirabelli to catch him. Option 2 isn't much better, because you not only weaken the offense with Mirabelli over Tek, but you also put your backup catcher into the game and leave yourself with no protection in case of injury-- who catches if Mirabelli goes down in one of these situations?

Right now Wake to the bullpen only makes sense because he's the most inconsistent starter. On that very same token however, his inconsistency would make me reluctant to throw him into a close game situation.

Good point but while Mirabelli is on the DL maybe they should put him in the Pen!!

But its good to give V-tek the day off!!!! Lets just wait and find out what they are going to do!

I really think the Wakefield will not have a place on this team next season. We're probably not going to need him and he hasn't really been performing. I love the guy and everything he's done for the organization and the city, but he's an average starter at bests that limits our ability to run out the catcher we want and is unpredictable every day. I'd much rather go with a traditional pitcher and let Wake go elsewhere.

Too Bad he is signed for next year!! haha he cant leave unless we trade him

That's what I was thinking we do. He signed a careerlong contract with us.

Posted
When I see Wakefield pitch, I still see the heart of our franchise. The guy has been with us since 1995 and despite some consecutive bad starts, I think he gets back on track and all of this talk ends. He'll have a spot with us next year.

he has been the heart of the team for a while, but everyone gets old--and I dont get into this worship thing you guys do where if they were on the team last year, or if they appear to be good guys, or in wake's case longevity..that means we should stick with them...if they arent up to snuff I say thanks for the memories and what can we do to get better..

In terms of of wake I think it's almost time to have one....

, I think he is putting fewer goods starts together and if you inlcude trhe end of the regular season last year, he isnt doing that well.

I say bullpen, and start looking at retirement property for next year!

Posted
HAHAHA i think he will be in the bull pen next year deppending on who are starters are!! but if we get into trouble he can come up and be a starter like he can allways do!!!
Posted
Ok just a friednly reminder Wade Miller and Wells both only signed one year deals I would bet my life that Wells won't be back and I'm not certain please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe MIller does not have an option for next year or anything so its no sure thing he's back either. Tim's a knuckleballer and yes he has been struggling lately but he can't really control it in the end he will be fine and there is a place for him next year.
Posted
Miller is still arbitration eligible for next season, so he is our property. He hasn't had the full six years of service and the only reason he was a FA is because he was non-tendered.
Posted
Ok fine so Miller will be back but Wells won't be so there is a place for Timmy. He's a good pitcher but he's a knuckleballer so he will go through tough stretches.

Hmmm it is two years. Wow that is a questionable move by Theo to sign him for that long at his age I forgot it was 2 years but I guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do to sign someone you need. Oh well I still think there is room for Timmy.
