So do you say that because he beat you on one ankle, or because he speaks the truth about your players every single time he talks?

no has nothing to do with that. it has something to do with what he said about lou pinella. he's lucky lou didn't try to go after him. He would stomp his ass into the ground even though he's older. you never question or insult anothe manager on another team if your player. Unless they deserved it. For fans its diffrent, but Curt should learn to keep his mouth shut. he's just stuck on himself. The Charity's are a good thing. But how dow e no that they weren't encouraged by his wife who I think is a classy lady.

Lou Piniella has forgotten how to manage. The way he handled the situation in question was pathetic. Not only that, but he's not getting the most out of his players either. Tampa Bay needs a new manager, GM and owner quickly.

I'm not saying it's right I'm just saying that's why, and din't he get drafted huge difference between enlisting yourself and getting drafted.

The "media" are (yes, I'm going the grammatically correct route today) generally the influential factors in whether fans hate a player or not. I hate to be just another guy blaming the media, but they really get on players' backs and essentially ride them out of town.

About Williams and the war from mlb.com:

Williams' military career began during World War II, and it was not a smooth entry for the Splendid Splinter. Just a few months after hitting .406, Pearl Harbor was attacked and the U.S. was drawn in to World War II. Williams, with a 1A draft status, received a deferment because his mother was dependent on him.

This was not portrayed well in the press or taken well by the fans. He was painted as "un-American." Fans heckled him mercilessly. He made it through the 1942 season, voluntarily enlisting in the Navy reserve and being called to active duty in November of that year.

So he was drafted, got out of it essentially, but enlisted anyway.

He was psychologically forced into it those bastards no one would do that today.

I dunno what's worse, the games best hitter almost being named into this dudes all time ******* list due to shaky media relations, or him being frozen in Arizona

Couldn't come up with anyone better to put on that list than Albert Belle. I have had season tickets to LSU baseball games for years and I have never seen anyone act like he did. He went after a fan, cussed out fans, teamates, and opponents players&coaches. After weekend games the whole team stays after to sign autographs and he would tell everyone(including little kids) to f*** off or shut the f*** up most of the time and not sign anything. Real classy guy.....definate *******
