i know he pitched 2 shut-outs this year but honestly i dont have confidence in him!

also i have not been overly impressed with Renteria although he played well last night

well yea, after a start like that, how could you have confidence in anybody. I think for a while though they have to keep starting him and hope he improves. Also, the biggest concern with Renteria is how he handles the routine plays. He's had some amazing defensive plays, but it seems like most of his errors have come on routine plays.

Yeah...don't jump all over him. I think if we looked hard enough during the offseason, we could have found somebody that wasn't 40+ and could pitch well --- we don't have to follow up the Yankees s***** moves. But I'm fairly satisfied, he did come off the DL prematurely and his numbers are good:

it's obvious this guy needed a rehab start, regardless of how he convinced everyone he didn't.

I say give him some time. Maybe a week or two of rehab starts, just so he can get into a groove before he comes back.

That's if he approves of any rehab starts. Most likely he'll just keep wasting starts in Boston while "you know who" slowly creeps back into the division race.

Give him some time, obviously he came back too early from the injury I think if they had given him 1 or 2 rehabs this wouldn't of happened.

If only they would dedicate perhaps 15 or so minutes of practice time to "simulated game situation" pitching practice. Have a pitcher face a few of the Sox' hitters on the field to determine if he is ready to be thrown into a game that counts. This would also add a bit of "patience at the plate" training that practice in a batting cage does not offer.

I think Wells has looked pretty bad all year, I say we send him packing and go after Ben Sheets or any of the Marlins pitchers.

Ben Sheets just signed a long term contract with the Brew Crew and is their ace so goodluck trading for him. The only Marlins pitcher that they would likely trade would be AJ Burnett who is in the last year of his contract. It would be a wiser move to wait till next offseason and go after him. There is no way they trade Willis or Beckett.

Even though I absolutely hate Wells it was his first start off the DL and he had pitched pretty good up to going on the DL. Give him some time - remember he threw that shutout against the Os when they were one of the hottest teams in baseball. I would rather have Wells starting than Jermey Gonzalez any day

Ok how about this for "knowing baseball". Most of the money in Wells contract is pure incentives, the better he pitches the more he gets payed the actual money that he is gaurnteed get is relativly cheap, it was another one of Theo's low risk high reward signings because if he pitches crappy he dosen't cost that much. But yeah I don't know anything.
