Here is my list of pitchers i would send out (assuming all pitchers are healthy)

we have some really good starters

here is my list

1) CURT SCHILLING (no brainer - in a big game i would want this guy on the mound)

2) BRONSON ARROYO

3) TIM WAKEFIELD

4) MATT CLEMENT (i love this guy, but Arroyo is like 10-1 in his last 11 decisions and is coming around, and Tim is just Tim and is amazing)

5) David WELLS

i would love to hear others opinions on rating the starters from 1-5 assuming everybody is healthy

Posted

1. Schilling - obviously

2. Bronson - longest streak in ML with something like 17 starts without a loss

3. Wake - he's having one of those seasons that come every 3 years or so

4. Miller - when healthy this guy could be #2

5. Clement - great stuff but some control problems

overall we have a great staff and i didnt even have room for wells. i just like miller way more than wells and think he will have a better year as well.

1 Schilling

2 Arroyo

3 Wakey

4 Clement

2-4 are having great years and Schill will eventually.

5 eh, haven't seen too much from the rest but I'll go with Miller

I was also impressed with Jeremi Gonzalez's performances. Wells impressed me in his start vs Baltimore. Halama even had a good start.

For all those who say take Wakefield out jsut look at the numbers 4-1 with a 3.18 ERA and just with you're own eyes look he's been nasty all season.
Posted

1. Schilling (won't be back for a while though)

2. Wells (c'mon guys, this guy is a flat out gamer)

3. Arroyo (2.91 ERA so far)

4. Miller (will be dominant)

5. Clement (Zenny's Jason Schmidt prediction looks very good)

Here's why Wakefield would be a much better pitcher in the bullpen, after seeing 91 MPH from each of our starters, they now see a 58 mph knuckleball. That would be hitters in slumps for awhile

What do you do with Mirabelli? Bring him in whenever you bring in Wake? It wouldn't work Tek wouldn't get his rest and Tek can't catch Wake... Wake needs to stay in the rotation. And how can you just say Miller will be dominant you've seen him pitch once, Chein-Ming Wang had a good first start.

I don't think Wells would enjoy a trip to the bullpen, maybe we keep Wake in, and send Arroyo in because of his resillant arm. This team has too much pitching depth.
Posted
Why don't we send Miller in he's the only one who hasn't really proven himself yet outside of Wells and Wells is definitly not going to the pen he'll kill his back pitching every to every other day.

Wade Miller was one of the NL's best pitchers from the turn of the century. To put him in the bullpen would be a waste of, potentially, the best pitcher on our staff.
Posted

1. Curt Schilling (ace)

2. Wade Miller (always has the chance for a win)

3. Matt Clement (up and down...so far up)

4. Bronson Arroyo (future ace?)

5. Tim Wakefield (battles every game...amazing)

....I never did completely understand the David Wells signing. I doubt he would take going to the bullpen very well after joining as the #2 pitcher and started openning day. I think he was just insurance with the injury to Miller and Schilling. Now what the hell do you do with him? Who would want to trade for him? The guy is over 40 but who knows....in Theo we trust

He's relatively cheap, trade him for pitching prospects to a team trying desperately to make the push this year for a WS...Angels...Cubs...

Trade him for what? We don't need anything. Mark Bellhorn is playing bad, but we all know he's not THIS bad. We're plenty full at first base with Millar, Youk, McCarty and Olerud. If there ever comes a time where all 6 are healthy, I'm fine with going with a 6-man rotation. This isn't even a problem, though...things will work themselves out and our pitching is fine. Don't move anyone...Schil won't be back for a while and until then we'll be okay.

I was wanting to trade him for prospects, that's the luxury of having a stacked team.

If Youk is moving to first, which is the stupidest move ever, then we need 3b prospects.

All I hear about Wade Miller is WAS one of the best pitchers in the NL, has POTENTIAL to be great, COULD be great let's let him prove himself in the bullpen, all these other guys have earned thier spot in the rotation if he's lights out in the pen work from there.

If by WAS you mean last season before he got hurt. He's a good pitcher, and as his first time out last week on Sunday, even though he didn't get the win, the fact that he was hitting his spots, getting his velocity up to 95 being steady around 92 is incredible. His first MLB start since coming off the DL. I'm very impressed. I know it's only one game but from what I saw I'd be willing to let him show his stuff in another start.

The types of infielders and players we have are totally different players and are unique in different ways. Vazquez is handy because he's a MIF, and Mueller can play anywhere with the exception of 1st (I think). I wouldn't be surprised to see Mueller going to second with Youk stayin at 3rd and having Vazquez and Bellhorn off the bench. I mean think about it. If you need a pinch hitter you can still choose from Bellhorn, Vazquez, Mirabelli, etc. Those are some good back-up bats.
