Belhorn cant hit in the 9 hole, he is hitting in the 2 teens this year, last year if you remember he was hitting number 2, being protected by Damon and Manny, and in his one game hitting 2 this year he went 3-4 in Philly with a HR

he could be bat boy...though..

he knows the game...and the players it would be a smooth transition..

and soxie could still have him around.

PS: I love gabe in the nine hole, seeing damon and kapler on the base paths with the guns coming up...priceless.

Kapler, Damon, and Rents being up before Manny and Papi just isn't fair. That is if Kapler stays in the 9 hold.

I heard on the radio that the only thing he was having trouble with is catching line drives, but I dont know how true that is because I am sure he wants to get back as soon as he can.

Bellhorn deserves a shot to earn his job back, but he's got to be able to hit in AAA before they bring him up. Maybe what he needs is some time down there to get his swing straightened out.

riverside-- I agree that a player shouldn't lose his job just because he's injured, but Terry's loyalty aside, should he have kept his job as long as he did? A bunch of members on this board will argue that he'd already should have lost it.

I'm a big fan of Tony G. I think he plays a great defensive second base, holds his own with the bat, and is a damn solid player. Personally I think the combination of Graffanino/Cora render Bellhorn obsolete.... but I know Terry and company will give him another shot.

Perhaps he should spend most of August in Pawtucket getting himself ready? There's certainly no reason to rush him back IMO.

you are right elsrbruneo, Bellhorn needs time down in the minors to work everything out, in todays afternoon game he remained hitless going 0-3 with 2 strikeouts. Currently in first 2 games he is 0 for 8 with 4 strikeouts

what has bellhorn done this season to show that he deserves his starting job back after 2 players have come in and more than adequately filled his spot and then some?

He needs to fix his swing, it's UGLY.

Has anyone else noticed it? It's an uppercut kind of swing, which results in strikeouts and popups. People who have a lot of power will turn those popups into to high fly homeruns, but Bellhorn, is Bellhorn.

Bellhorn just doesn't look that comfortable when he's swinging at the plate

Maybe he ought to try swinging at the ball.

He definitely needs to level it so that the bat spends more time on plane with the ball.

That's not true either, you think pitchers are going to pitch around the 9 guy? Johny Damon is protecting him, so I think Bellhorn's getting his pitches.

That's exactly why you want Tony G at the bottom of the lineup. He's now over .300 on the season, and I think he's a great 9 spot hitter.

I understand that Tito will probably give Bellhorn a chance to win his job back but he really doesn't deserve it.

Bellhorn G	AB	R	H	2B	3B	HR	RBI	SB	BA	OBP	SLG
Season	85	283	41	61	20	0	7	28	3	.216	.328	.360

Tony G G	AB	R	H	2B	3B	HR	RBI	SB	BA	OBP	SLG
Season	68	226	34	68	7	2	3	19	3	.301	.375	.389

I'd much rather have Tony out there. Bellhorn, it's been real, thanks for your help with the WS, but it's time for you to start picking splinters out of your ass on a nightly basis. The fact that the Pirates have a better 2B than Bellhorn should be enough to keep him on the bench when he gets back.

lmao yea 109 Ks shows pitchers are staying wary of this guy when hes up at bat, that must also be same thing down in Pawtucket with Bell tearing the cover off the ball, 0 for 8 with 4 strikeouts in first two rehab games

I like Bellhorn too. maybe he's not great in the batters box like ortiz but he's got a few sharp plays on 2B. I think he fits in the team perfectly, doesn't he?
Posted
Yes that's true actuelly. I agree. last game Graffanino had batting average of .301. not bad for a hitter in the bottom of the lineup I guess. Graffanino got his chance to show his advantages these days.

Unwritten rule that he can't lose his job because of injury. Therefore they'll let him try to earn it back, at least for awhile.

I agree, Bellhorn plays in the field just as well as Tony G., he can hit more HR's, and he can get on base more. Key word is could though.

this isnt really a discussion any more, we have a new second baseman thank God..there arent any stats to manipulate a case for bellhorn..he is awful one way or another.

and hopefully he wont ever be in at second again for the sox.

later mark..

it's strike three for your career here at boston.

Actually he probably will. I've said it, and I believe someone else did too ... there is an unwritten rule in sports that you cannot lose your job to injury. Bellhorn will be given a chance when he comes back, because thats the way things are done. Like it or not.

I pointed that out. Unwritten rule. He'll be given a shot to earn his job back with playing time. And over time, if he's still awful, he'll probably be taken outta games little by little.

thats a ridiciulous rule and hopefully one that will ignorned by the sox.

if so, the stikeiouts with men on which are a given will quickly and permentatly resolve this unusual debte.

the guy just is s***** player with no skill.but I'm sure a very nice guy.

there is another unwritten rule....if you suck you dont play.
