Oh Boy, HR in last two starts isn't getting me too excited. And he isn't striking anyone out.

In all fairness the HR last night was just whats his name hitting a freak of nature hit. That ball was a wasted pitch around his eyes and somehow it got hit out so you can't really judge it like that.

How can any one say embre has been lights out. He sucks ...plain and simple.

I think he is the worst f***ing pitcher I have ever seen. Man, he sucks.

Unfortunately for the starters, when embree comes in he lets all the runners score and those runs get charged ot the starter. How amany times has that happened..Oh, last night for example, comiong off his one pitch wonder in Tampa, that ball is still flying.

I think you guys are un believably forgiving. Foulke looks like s***. He hasnt had an over powering outing since the season began.

When do you start to worry before- its too late.

Oh, dear. I disagree, Embree is underappreciated. Someone already mentioned his k/9 ratio, he is the guy I would send in if the bases were loaded and there were no outs.

As for Foulke, his s*** is another teams starting pitcher. He's been playing against AL East teams so far this year against batters who have had plenty of time to adjust to his stuff. Foulke himself needs to make some adjustments is all, his stuff was great last year and there is no reason to think he's gone through some precipitous decline. He's doing what all closers do: figuring out what works now that everybody has seen what he's got.

you have simply got to be talkiong about some other alan embree..the piece of s*** I see is th e guy you wan twith the bases loaded, if for some reaosn you want the starte rcharged with another 3 quick runs when al gives up a grand slam

Let's review "mr. underappreciated's" work so far...

face it he sucks!!!! foulke will turn it aorund and is...bronson is a god..embree is f***ing piece of whale s***...

April 3rd, Yankee Stadium Alan Embree comes into the 6th inning with a run in and Alex Rodriguez on second. He promptly gives up a double to Ruben Sierra, scoring a run. He retired Hideki Matsui and Jason Giambi (while walking Jorge Posada in between) to get out of the inning. The run he gave up made a 5-1 game a 6-1 game, so his failure went largely un-noticed, especially considering the run he allowed was charged to Blaine Neal. His task in this game was to keep the deficit at 4 runs by recording 2 outs without allowing Rodriguez to score. SAP: 0-1 (.000)

April 5th, Yankee Stadium

Embree enters a tie game with runners on first (Matsui) and second (Rodriguez). He gets Posada to fly out, and strikes out Jason Giambi. Alex Rodriguez went to third on Posada's fly out, but no runs scored in the inning. SAP: 1-2 (.500)

April 6th, Yankee Stadium

With Jason Giambi on first base in the bottom of the seventh inning with the score tied 2-2, Alan Embree enters the game. He got Tino Martinez to fly out to end the threat. After retiring Bernie Williams to start the 8th inning, he walked Tony Womack and was removed for a reliever. Womack would later score the go ahead run. His task had been to keep the game tied, and since the lead runner was not surrendered while he was on the mound, he gets credit for doing his job. SAP: 2-3 (.667)

April 8th, Rogers Centre

Relieving Bronson Arroyo in the bottom of the 7th and inheriting a 6-2 lead, Embree wasted very little time giving up a homerun to Eric Hinske (he actually retired Shea Hillenbrand first). He didn't exactly settle down after the homerun, allowing Alex Rios to single after retiring Greg Zaun. Finally, he got Menechino out to end the threat. Since he was able to keep the lead intact, he was successful in this outing. SAP: 3-4 (.750)

April 10th, Rogers Centre

Alan Embree has a perfect inning with his team down 3-1, retiring Orlando Hudson, Vernon Wells, and Corie Koskie. SAP: 4-5 (.800)

April 14th, Fenway Park

Embree enters a tie game with Gary Sheffield on first and two out in the top of the 6th. He gets Hideki Matsui to fly out. He also pitches a perfect 8th inning, retiring Rodriguez, Posada, and Giambi. SAP: 5-6 (.833)

April 16th, Fenway Park

Given a 5-run lead, Embree pitches a shutout inning against the Devil Rays, giving up one hit (to Aubrey Huff) but retiring Alex Sanchez, Josh Phelps and Travis Lee. SAP: 6-7 (.857)

April 17th, Fenway Park

Entering in the seventh inning with a 3 run lead, Embree gets 4 consecutive outs, 3 of which on strikeouts (Crawford, Sanchez, Huff) and got Julio Lugo to ground out. SAP: 7-8 (.875)

April 19th, Fenway Park

After Bronson Arroyo outdueled Roy Halladay for 7 innings, the bullpen door swings open and out comes "Everyday Alan Embree." After a Corie Koskie single and a game tying 2 run homer by Vernon Wells, Embree allowed a single to Eric Hinske. Luckily, he got Alex Rios to hit into a double play and got Orlando Hudson to pop up, but the damage had been done. SAP: 7-9 (.777)

April 22nd, Tropicana Field.

The Red Sox battle back from a 4-1 deficit to tie the Devil Rays 4-4 in the top of the ninth. In the bottom of the ninth, Embree is brought in to keep the game tied and give the Red Sox offense a shot at further heroics. Tampa Bay's first batter, Eduardo Perez, hits a homerun to left field. Game over. SAP: 7-10 (.700)

April 25th, Fenway Park

With Boston trailing by 4 runs and Javy Lopez on second base with 2 outs, Embree is brought into the 7th inning to stop the bleeding. He strikes out BJ Surhoff to end the inning. After walking Luis Matos to start the 8th, he struck out Rafael Palmiero, Geronimo Gil, and Brian Roberts. Unfortunately for Embree, Matos stole second and third, and scored on a Jason Varitek throwing error. The run scored, but Embree did his job. SAP: 8-11 (.727)

April 26th, Fenway Park

Alan Embree enters the game with an 8-5 lead after 2 runs had already scored in the inning and with 2 runners on base. The first batter, Larry Bigbie, doubles to left field, scoring both runners and tightening the score to 8-7. He followed that by getting Brian Roberts out to end the inning. This is the hardest success/failure decision to make, because he allowed 2 runs to score but ultimately was not the pitcher who allowed the lead to slip away. Considering that he allowed 2 runs to score in a game the Red Sox eventually lost, I can't with good conscience consider this outing a "Success." SAP: 8-12 (.667)

May 1st, Ameriquest Field (Arlington, Texas)

Embree enters the game with a 6-3 lead and gets 4 consecutive outs: Teixeira, Blalock, Soriano, and Nix before being relieved by Mike Timlin. The very definition of success. SAP: 9-12 (.750)

May 2nd, Comerica Park

With the Red Sox trailing by only 2 runs in the 8th inning, Alan Embree was given the task of keeping the deficit at 2 runs. His response? Allowing 3 runs while only recording two outs. He got Craig Monroe to ground out and Marcus Thames to foul out, but a homerun by Carlos Pena, doubles by Infante and Logan followed by Inge's single put this game out of reach for the Red Sox. SAP: 9-13 (.692)

He's not done with the Red Sox the front office really likes him and they're going to give him a front office job.

sarasoxfan...you have to be the most negative Red Sox fan in the world. Later in the year if we are ahead by 20 games with 20 days left, you are going to be the one that is going to be complaining that we've wasted all of our energy in the regular season.

In 14 outings, Embree has ONE blown save. So the f*** what, he's had a few bad outings...every relief pitcher does at this point. He's doing his job, saying he "sucks" just proves that you either a) like picking arguments or B) have little baseball knowledge. I think I've missed only 4 Sox games this year, and I don't have much to complain about. We're winning...just shut the hell up and enjoy it.

Ok so lemme get this straight... April 3rd, Gives up one hit jsut one that run was charged to Neal for a reason not Embrees fault.

April 5th, retires 3 in a row nuff said

April 6th, ends threat walks one batter not exactly "sucking" and thats an understatement

April 8th had some trouble but held the lead good enough for me

April 10th, Pitches perfect nuff said

April 14th Perfect again

April 16th shut out

April 17th 4 consecutuive 3 K's

April 19th screws up first reall bad outing of the year ........

April 22nd Yea we know he made a bad pitch it happens to the best of 'em

April 25th let in one run but he did his job

April 26th gave up 2 runs cant really call that a good outing at all

May 1st perfect

May 2nd had a rough outing ouch

So in a nutshell he's had a small stretch of 4 pretty bad outings (with 2 good ones in between) while every other appearance was fine or better. So he has 9 good appearances out of 14 and he SUCKS? no way in hell no way in hell Embree will be just fine anyone who says he sucks needs to chill out.

last time I looked red sox nation was free state, unlike morons from Texas members of a free state are entilted to opinions--and unlike the state of the nation where the idiots in the white house,

wow, i'm glad as hell i'm not involved with this crap anymore. but i'll play peacemaker. sarah- you are entitled your opinion and there is as little reason for tex to flame you as you have to flame embree, he just pitched another 1-2-3 8th inning looking really good. as i've stated before it's still early and his era is not THAT terrible for a reliever, there are literally a handfull of teams that have more than 3 relievers with era's under 3. let the man pitch, he's a red sox, support him.

remember, this is just an internet forum, not only are you making your life miserable (which matters little to some/many of us) you're making reading this forum miserable for many because of your overaggressive posts, chill out gangsta.

I hope you were drunk when typing that. Why would you hike up your skirt and prance around this site about why Embree sucks, along with Foulke, and Santa Claus...I'm sure he sucks, too. Do you even watch baseball if you claim that Embree is the worst pitcher you've ever seen? Have you never seen the Sox play the Devil Rays or Blue Jays? Embree doesn't "suck" like you say he does.

Woo Hoo alrighty we got an "I was wrong" on a red sox forum... Cla is a rookie put into some though spots. When he learns to locate that monster of a pitch he'll be deadly.
