Thoughts on the Season So Far

Hey fans,

 

Just wanted to see want other fans thought of the season so far. What do you like about the Red Sox, what needs to be fixed. Are you worried about the 2-4 start or do you feel there is nothing to be worried about and that once the season gets going they will be in the race for the playoffs like they are every year. Right now they are looking pretty good, beating the Yankees 7-1 in the 6th. Let me know what you guys think.

We started off fairly slow last year also....I'm not worried. Today's game helped me a little bit with that.

It's too early to be overly concerned about Mr. Wells yet but I think they should keep him on a short leash; they've been way too patient with shooting stars in recent years and they need to run a tighter ship. Sooner or later the wildcard or division title may be decided by one or two games, and the Sox' propensity for letting wounds fester for too long may very well sink the ship.

Ya Im not overly concerned. I would have liked to have win those first couple games but in the end its not a big deal. Only thing that concerns me is Mr. Wells. Hes a gamer tho so I hope he'll come around but he definitly has not found his groove

He needs to find his spots. That's the main thing. I mean he has good stuff and we've seen him put it to effect...like in Toronto, those early innings and the one after that disastrous back to back to back HRs inning, he had it working. If he can hit his spots he should be ok. But right now if I had to take anyone out of the rotation when Schill-Mill come back, it would be him. Clement is awesome, he just doesn't get run support...doesn't matter where he goes.

I don't know I am pretty worried about Mr. Wells. His curveball seemed to be working great but all his other pitches really weren't too sharp maybe he needs to settle into the season, I don't know but he is one of my big big question marks so far.

Wells is the worry spot for me as well. He's just been unimpressive. He even looks like he doesn't care that much. I think he will be held on a short leash if for no other reason, he used to be a Yankee.

 

Bellhorn's been K-ing at a crazy rate and the Renteria double plays are killing me, but I'm not worried about the offense.

 

I think for me that yesterday and tomorrow, with Schilling coming back, marks the end of last season and the real start of this season.

Sorry, should have re-worded that. Our first half of baseball last year wasn't the greatest....weren't we around .500?

I think the Yanks have more questions than the sox do... i mean there not exactly blossuming either. Its not a big deal every regular season is almost the same, we'll be in 1st in june, fall 8 games out in july/august and finish 3 or 4 games out of 1st in september and well get the wildcard

by the way who gets taken off the roster to make room for schilling, I hope it's neal.

It most likely is Neal... Also I forgot to mention one thing I was very impressed me was mantei great velocity god control assuming no DL he could be the perfect set up man this year.

the last two games manny and ortiz hit grand slams so im pretty happy with the season so far - plus the first win streak of the season. just need to keep woopin the lesser teams in the east

At least we can be pretty confident that the team won't have a losing record again for the rest of the season. Things are starting to fall into place.

Personally, I think a key series (atleast for April) coming up is at Baltimore...we struggled against them last year, and I think we'll need to win the season series against them this year to have a shot at winning the division.

i agree totally. look how baltimore played the yanks so far this series. the key will be beating batimore and toronto since the the sox and yanks will probably end up splitting.
