I seem to remember a host of posting people who beyond all rationale continue to cling to the belief that BK will somehow defy reality and turn back into the pitcher everyone once thought he could be.

In spite of the fact that he continues to blow, and that the end mercifully is almost here I'm sure that someone will be supportive,.

BK has been an unmitgated disataer from the start and think it's time to purchase a one way ticket back to korea for this bum.

sianara you stiff.

Not up to speed, Kim likely not going places

By Gordon Edes, Globe Staff | March 21, 2005

BRADENTON, Fla. -- Time is running out for Byung Hyun Kim to make an impression on the Sox or any prospective suitors, and his inning of work in yesterday's 5-3 exhibition loss to Pittsburgh -- even though it was three up, three down -- hardly advanced his cause.

"He was at 84 miles an hour," said one major league scout. "I thought my [radar] gun was stuck. He might have touched 85. He's just a shadow of the pitcher he was in Arizona. This is a guy who threw in the 90s when he was in Arizona, and his slider had incredible movement. Now, his slider is flat.

"He's a very, very marginal pitcher right now. I wouldn't give the Red Sox $500,000 for him, and they want a player back because they're willing to eat the money."

The Red Sox owe Kim $6 million this season in the last year of a two-year, $10 million contract Sox general manager Theo Epstein gave him after the 2003 season. He has pitched just 3 2/3 innings in three appearances this spring, in part because he was sidelined several days with the flu. It appears preposterous to believe Kim will win a job in the Sox bullpen coming out of camp; it appears almost as unlikely the Sox will be able to unload him, even though other clubs say the Sox have indicated a willingness to eat all but $1 million of his contract, provided they get a prospect in return.

It's a damn shame. He had boatloads of potential, and was handled poorly when he got to Boston. Now it seems that his physical abilities have fallen to where his mental abilities have always been.

It would've been really nice to see him handled properly, build up some much needed confidence, and bring his mental game to where his physical game already was.

It also would've been really nice to dump him off before his stock completely plummeted this spring.

bingo, it is a shame.. hopefully he can regain his old form for another club. it'll probably happen somewhere, but definately not in boston.

it's still tough for me to see him go, especially getting nothing in return. if they had trade on their mind they should have definately done it before spring training.

We got Jason Young for him.

Oh, wow, there goes his career. All Kim needs is a place without pressure to gain his form and snap into it. He has no pressure in Coors alright, only because the air is so damn thin. He'll get lit up. RIP BK. :(

I dont care if the jason young is a bat boy, we got the better of the deal.

kim is finished.

He cant get the ball over 85 mph.

I say thanks for nothing, and sianara.

Didnt he also give the fans the finger?

john it pains me to disgaree with you, but they absolutley did have trade on their mind, because he sucked so badly during his stay here they were hoping he could turn it around and they in turn could showcase an improved Bung bing kim during spring training hoping we could get something for him..but he still sucked so badly we probably would have taken a can of beer to be named later for him.

The Red Sox won't be getting Jason Young. Instead they acquired Chris Narveson, who is a lefthanded pitcher and catcher Charles Johnson. The Sox immiediately designated Johnson for assignment and released him.

where does it say that we aquired jason young for him? it states we wanted young but the rockies didn't want to give him up i believe.

sara- you always have a responce to my posts, unfortunately i don't have anything to say to you, it's really not worth my time. take it however you want to.

I read Jason Young earlier, no it's Naverson, who I don't know who the f*** is.

Narveson came over in the Larry Walker deal. Nothing special. He may contribute to the pen at some point, but I wouldn't expect a whole lot.

Good news: We don't have to pay for Kim.

Bad news: We had to pay for part of Johnson to be released.

It's a wash.

we don't have to pay for kim? arne't we eating 5.6 million of his salary? personally i'de rather keep him if it's only costing us 400k, but that's just me.

I too am glad to see Kim gone. But I do wish him well. He's still a young kid and I hope he can figure things out.

There is a positive out of this trade.

By making that trade, the doors opened for both Billy and Ortiz. And look what that has done for the team. So I guess overall, if you look at that, the trade could be considered a success.

Good to see that BK has improved in Colorado.

Byung-Hyun Kim gave up eight runs in one-third of an inning against the Rangers today in his Rockies debut.

Never recovered from the '01 playoffs.

So how does that explain his career best 2002 season? Or his 142 ERA+ in 2003?

Somewhere along the line, he was hurt. Grady absolutely pitched him into the ground down the stretch in 2003. He's been used like a rubber-armed vet ever since hitting the bigs for good in 2000. He was quite effective when he came over to Boston, but his stuff certainly looked worse than it did the year prior, when he was absolutely filthy against the Red Sox. He was hitting 94 on the gun, and his slider had insane break on it.

Kim got over 2001, it's those with a Yankees obsessed mindset that never did. He's had struggles, and I've never seen "fans" act so heartless towards a young pitcher that obviously didn't need that at what was already a low point in his career (Fossum in 2003 after the Colon fiasco comes a close second). Do you think HE didn't know he was sucking?

OK 2002 was a good year for him, but his downfall started in 2003, he had his highest ERA since 2000, which was his 2nd year in the bigs. The change from RP to SP didn't work out for him. I guess i agree that he was run into the ground by the manager. If you look at his '03 gamelog from July on, he is pitching almost every night. I only found 2 places where he got 4 nights rest. Guess I should have done my research.

BINGO, i was one of the few fans that actually wished the guy back to good health and a good career, the rest just bashed him into the ground and set the stone.
