this looks like a good movie..its based on the Nick Hornby novel and movie "Fever Pitch" (1997) starring Colin Firth. Film has been updated to center of a guy and his obsession with the Boston Red Sox. Ben meets Lindsey. They fall in love. All things are wonderful. But their future together is threatened once the baseball season comes around and Lindsey discovers something about Ben...his obsession with the Boston Red Sox.

-One of the Red Sox games filmed is the 4 September 2004 game against the Texas Rangers (Red Sox lost 8-6)

-On 27 October 2004, Game 4 of the 2004 World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox, the finale of this film was shot. After the last play of the game in the bottom of the ninth during the Red Sox celebration, stars Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon were filmed also celebrating together on the field. A brief shot of the filming could be seen live on the Fox broadcast of the World Series. Rewrites by the Farrelly brothers had to be done immediately following the World Series game 7 clincher of the ALCS against the New York Yankees to include the historic 2004 Boston Red Sox postseason.

-Another game filmed for the movie was the 20 September 2004 game against the Baltimore Orioles, which Baltimore won 9-6. The shooting consisted of Drew running across the field to where Fallon was sitting, near the Red Sox dugout. This was filmed after the game, with about half the crowd staying after to be extras.

***it sounds like a chick flick so i guess i hafta go see it with my girlfriend that way I don't seem like a total homo

Now that they had to restructure it to give it some sort of fairy tale ending, I doubt it will be as interesting as it could have been before. But since it's about the sox, I guess I have to see it.

The preview actually makes it look funny. I guess I have to see any movie which shows Ortiz three times in its preview.

Haha, my favorite part:

"HEY UMP GET OFF YOUR KNEES!!! YOUR BLOWING THE GAME!!!"

or something to that effect...however, I thought it had a nice mix of comedy in it too, it's actually pretty good. But maybe my liking of Jimmy Fallon helped me make that decision.

Yeah, I forget where I saw it but there was urinal that had a picture of Derek Jeter at the drain...

About a month after 9/11, I went to a bathroom that had Osama in its urinal.

The movie was pretty goofy I thought, not the Farrelly brothers' best. But parts were funny. I was very dissappointed in the ending...it was almost like they really didn't have to change the script...they just rushed it all into the last 3 minutes, and added a narrative to the playoff highlights that we've seen so many times - although that never gets old. So on a scale from 1-10, I'd probably give it a 5. I expect more out of Bobby and Peter Farrelly.

The ending did seem slapped together and an afterthought, but the movie is such fun for any Sox fan and their girlfriend/wife. My wife and I started dating during the '86 season and we were together that night at Busch. We laughed alot and saw alot of ourselves in this movie, as I'm sure many Sox fans will.

I've faced some taunting whenever I have declared my intention to go see it. Judging from the "reviews" here it doesnt' seem like it would be a complete waste of my time to go.

And mosox, I still can't believe how lucky you are to have been there at game 4.

They had to re-make the ending so they asked the prodicers for money to make that ending. Guess they didnt get that much money. However, if the Sox lost game 4 in STL, they wouldn't have re-made the ending and it wouldv'e stayed with the other one.

I just saw it today. It was really good but they went over the end (game 5-7 of alcs and 1-4 of the world series) way too fast. They just had a guy like talk and say what happened in them but didn't really do anything. It caught me off guard when they won it all.

Scale of 1 to 10

7.75

I'd give it around that too.
