I dont know how much I trust a local NBC station, but if this is true its the dumbest, most pointless move ever. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim? That's akin to naming the Pats the Foxboro Patriots of New England. Or the Giants the New York Giants of New Jersey.

It's true it's also on the Angels website and on ESPN.com. I agree it's pretty stupid, they claim they want to reach out to all of the fans in the LA area not the Anaheim area.

Could get interesting. I read a while ago that the City of Anaheim won't give up the name "Anaheim Angels" without a fight.....

 

I think the: "Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim" is a pretty silly name myself.

It all comes down to money and marketing, unfortunately. It would have been cool to have the California Angels and a team back in Washington in the same year though.

As long as in box scores it doesnt say Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim-6 Boston Red Sox-2 or something like that, its ok. I cant imagine being beaten by a team with that silly of a name.
