Javier Vazquez?!! Why the hell would the D-backs make this trade?

 

Vazquez makes 33 million over the next 3 years, Randy makes only 15 for 1 year. I'm sure Vazquez would be thrilled to play for Jeff Morad, and the D-backs are going to suck next year, so Vazquez will demand a trade.

Vazquez doesn't have a NTC, and the D'backs like his potential. You read the report pre-thanksgiving about how they almost had a done deal?

But what makes no sense is Arizona taking on Vazquez. Wink, wink -- we know the Yankees would take on some of the money, but Vazquez has $25M guaranteed in 2006 and 2007. Now, the Diamondbacks likely will be worse than any of Vazquez's Expos teams, so he'll demand a trade at the end of the '05 season. If he has a good year, Arizona will be embarrassed. If he has a bad year, he will be virtually untradable at that price. Then there's the matter of Diamondbacks owner Jeff Moorad being the agent Vazquez fired.

Hahaha, Vazquez fired the current owner of the Dbacks. I didnt know that. There's your reason why he wont be going to Arizona any time soon right there. Not to mention the fact that his ERA this year was close to 5...

Don't be so sure about Beltran either. There are a lot of teams interested in him...'stros, Cubs, Angels, Yankees....just because the Yankees are interested in someone doesn't mean they're necessarily going to get him.

the yankees and their fans are spoiled, because of their boss they think they can get whatever they want whenever they want...if they were smacked into reality, it doesnt happen that easily.

if beltran doesn't accept arbitration from the astros there will only be a few teams capable of signing him. the bidding war will not be as "crazy" as thought.

 

he's overrated anyways. the yankees can have him at the money he wants.
