i apologize to elsrbueno and to the whole board. I know that when i talk sometimes i come across as arrogant and stuff, but bottom line is I LOVE BASEBALL, I LOVE THE SOX, and i hate the yankees

I do have opinions and i will state them i admit some of them are way out there but its just the way i feel.

anyways we are all sox fans, so lets stick together, my spelling is terrible i never really was great in english, thats why i became an accountant, lol

anyways sorry for anybody i offended, and i will keep posting my opinions, and remember they are my opinions, so i guess we dont all agree

btw - i like trot nixon its just cause he was being compared to walker, etc... by some people i know and i could not agree

thanks

I know how you feel. I've been blasted for every idea and feeling I have about the Sox. I have come to realize one thing....almost all of the people that post here don't want any changes in this team....Manny, Trot, Carbrera, Pedro, V-tek, etc. Nobody wants to see them go and I agree.

However, it seems few are open to reality that they are not all coming back....its impossible. So some of you....be more open minded and explore potential moves.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but please....think in a larger range than just the team we have now.

btw- Nixon for Zito would be a good trade for us. Especially if we can lure Pavano too.

nixon for zito is a terrible trade.. who knows if zito will ever be the same. his curveball comes with a huge ?

nixon for hudson is more respectable.

No one is trying to blast anyone and make you feel inferior. Don't take it personally. Some people are really passionate about their sox, and to hear mention of some players being traded is too much for them to take.

That said, asserting your opinions like they are the law of the land is not the way to go either. It's just a message board. We need to lighten up.

I think you and I are the only ones on the board to make this point. Nixon for Zito is a BAD TRADE!!!

Zito's really not been as good lately as he was when he came up. For whatever reason, he was pretty hittable last year.

On the other hand, Nixon saved the Red Sox' SEASON with his defense and will be very good offensively once he's healthy.

I'd consider Nixon for Hudson.... but I'd rather have Nixon than Zito.

i would trade Nixon for either one of the Big 3

eyes closed!

starting pitching (a good one) is much harder to find than an average right fielder

Hey Johnny,

Just want to say: No hard feelings!

I would trade Nixon for Mulder or Hudson (like Crespo said) but Zito's a bit of an enigma. Not sure if he's capable of being a top starter... he was 11-11 with a 4.68 ERA last season. In fact, since his 23-5 year (2002) he was 14-12 with a 3.30 ERA last year, then of course the 4.68 ERA in 2004.... so he's been trending downward the past 3 years. I'm not sure I'd go hard after the guy unless he could prove he can be a top pitcher.

yeah good point

but somehow i would love a good lefty in our rotation!!

That I can agree on. One thing I might monitor closely is the Al Lieter situation. He MAY become a free agent if the mutual option isn't exercised.

He's no ace, but he could win 15+ games in Boston with an ERA in the high 3's.

Go past what he did last year...Zito has great talent. Possibly more upside than any of the three. All pitchers are up and down. Hudson gets blasted too as does Mulder who died toward the end last year.

So many teams want Derek Lowe as their #1 starter....you gotta be kidding me....Zito would be tops on all those teams. He had a tough year but a lot of pitchers have bad years....The Red Sox have a good defense and will give him plenty of run support. Zito could be the ace of the Red Sox for years.

What you may find with young pitchers is a change can do them a lot of good. Zito may find his groove under the pitching coaches in Boston and working with (hopefully Varitek)

The thing that worries me about Zito is that he's gotten steadily worse the past 2 years. Granted, he had to come down a bit from a 23-6 season, but after getting worse for 2 consecutive years... it would concern me if I were attempting to deal for him.

Anyway, On this subject, Peter Gammons said: Oakland doesn't want Posada OR Nixon... so Theo/Cashman would have to come up with something else.
