From my mom

Here's a question for you...

1....Take the year the Red Sox won their last World Series.

2...Add the numbers of..

Manny

Ortiz

Veritek

3..Subtract the number of Garciaparra..

What do you come up with?

Awesome. But Manny and Tek seem kinda random. Whatever numbers work though, right? :D

Dance, knuckler, dance.

I'm looking for Damon and Bellhorn to get on consistently and Manny to start banging some RBI's.

I just have a feeling Mirabelli will have a good game.

GO SOX!!!!

This has the makings for a great game. Two sometimes dominant, sometimes hittable pitchers against two potent lienups. My prediction: 5 - 4 Sox.

This is definitely a winnable series. This time around the Cards don't have Bob Gibson. There pitching is even worse than that of the Yankees, and they're hitting is maybe a tiny bit better. But if we can shut down an AL Team with two or three MVPs, we can shut down an NL team with two or three MVPs. I think Damon and Manny are going to be sick, Ortiz will be his same old self, and I think Nixon will be better too.

C'Mon Sockies THIS IS THE YEAR!!!!

Wow, not too much action in this thread tonight. It was a crazy game, but what was really amazing was the fact that, despite their 9 runs, St Louis never once had the lead. And Manny finally started hitting, but stopped catching.

I take it no one posted in this because we were all watching :) Nice to see Element giving a narration, thanks. Anyway, this was a terrible game yet very exciting. Glad we won it, but we need to play better/

And was it just me or did it seem like the crowd was kind of subdued? I expected constant shouting and ovations and cheering, no matter what the situation. I mean, its the world series.....

i think we have a special team. u know somethings going in your favor when:

u give up 9 runs in a game and are never trailing

u have 4 errors in a game

u blow a couple leads

u have shaky pitching until the end

and yet u still come out on top with a 5 game winning streak in the postseason, i just dont see how this team can be stopped, we have so much spark and fire right now its gunna take all of americas fire departments to put ours out.

As they say though, good teams win when below their best.

Terrible defensive display and Wake didn't have a good day.

Anyone predict the two-run homer from Bellhorn when facing a 1-2 pitch? I surely didn't!

The other great play was by Foulke in the 8th with 1 out and the bases loaded. Got Rolen and struck out Edmonds and didn't allow the go-ahead run. How good has Foulke been?

And the 2 errors from Manny...thought it may have been another new way to lose.

1 down, 3 to go!

I felt that also. Kind of odd to watch, didn't have the 'playoff atmosphere'. We have to stop giving up runs, we got Schill tomorrow and he can do that. The scoring was good though.

Just like the Super Bowl, alot of tickets are not available to fans. It was all season ticket holders and corporate and employees from the teams.

As for the game, I think we were lucky to come away with a win in this one. 4 errors, ineffective pitching from Wake, and I'm sorry to say Francona - why let Arroyo pitch to Walker when he has Myers in the pen? And why was Millar 15 feet off the line for Walker? Plus Manny's circus act in left. We were lucky and need to play better.

Was I the only one still not counting the Cards out at 7-2?

How could you count them out? They're the most potent offense in baseball.
