Francona hinted that Lowe is likely to get the call for Game 7, since he has more in the tank than anyone else. I'm not upset about that. Lowe will get the hook early if he's in any trouble and Wakefield will take over. If either of them is effective, we've got a shot.

Same for Yanks. If either Brown or Vazquez (or Hernandez?) is effective, the game will stay tight. I can definitely see Brown getting roughed up early, though. That would be swell.

Can't the Sox win a blowout for once? Let's have a repeat of Game 3 -- away team crushes home team into small quivering chunks.

The beautiful thing is that Timlin and Embree have gotten the night off (though Timlin did warm up, I think). We have a little bit of 'pen left.

Of course, Gordon and Rivera got the night off, too. And Foulke has got to be gassed out after 3 straight stress situations.

It's going to be a barn-burner, folks.

wakefield said in a press conference it was lowe, but I guess that really isnt official.

I still dont know what the fuss is with our bullpen...like you said Timlin had the night off, embbree hasnt pitched many innings, most of the games, but he should be fine. Mendoza didnt pitch in game 4or 5 or 6...Myers has thrown about 10 pitches in game games 4 and 5 combined and dint pitch last night. L:eskanic has been idle for two games. We should be ready to go.

This game is going to be incredible tonight. Both teams battling hard. Think about the implications of this game?

Players who may not be in Boston uniforms after tonight:

Derek Lowe

Pedro Martinez

Orlando Cabrera

Jason Varitek

Imagine the Yankee payroll in 2005 if they DON'T win tonight. They might sign Adrian Beltre to play second base! Not to mention Beltran, Pavano, and others....

Brian Cashman may lose his job if the Yankees don't win.

There's a lot at stake here, not to mention the rivalry, the intense series it's been already..... I can't wait.

It;s too early to specualte, becasue they will be in unifrom at the wordl series..

but that being said I would be happy with all of them staying. Of course, Lowe is expendable for now...I'll decide that one around 12 tonight.

Considering that this could very well be the last game of the year for our beloved Red Sox, I think now IS the time to speculate.

God I have been praying for a win all night and morning long. I have two big games today, Houston@St. Louis, and this one. I just hope I get to see my two teams in what will be the greatest World Series in many, many years.

Wakefield I think is a better choice than Lowe, but hey, if its good enough for Francona, I'll go with it. He proved his worth by keeping Bellhorn in last night. Hopefully, we can win without slapping Yankees, but hell, that didn't help them last night ;)

This is one of those times when I hate living in Arkansas. I'm so far away from the excitement and the fandom like in Boston. Party hard for me after we win the ALCS tonight :D

Welcome to the site.

Hey, look at the bright side: You won't have to deal with any Yankee fans if they lose!

Hey, I always prepare myself for the worst... that way It's not as big a dissapointment, and if they can pull it off... it's a bonus!

How many times can we count els has been wrong?

Randy Johnson Trade

The time he picked against his own team

The time he said we should trade Pedro

The time he said we should trade Nomar for prospects

The time he said Kevin Millar is not any good

The point is els, your so damn negative it isn't funny. Keep it to your self UNTIL we lose.

Wow, I've been attacked!

Hey listen Crespo:

I made ONE post while I was VERY frustrated with the team that said have a firesale. Disregarding that ONE post,

1. I have never openly advocated trading Pedro Martinez.

2. What did I say about Randy Johnson? I said I had a bad feeling that he was going to the Yankees, but I never said he was DEFINATELY going.

3. When I predicted the Sox would lose that game, I was purposely trying to make an objective analysis based on statistics. Believe me, I'm rooting for the Sox every time!

4. I said Kevin Millar was no good? I believe I said I had very little confidence in him, but I never said he was no good.

5. Nomar was hurting this team when he played. He wasn't 100%, he was moping around the dugout during an INTENSE Red Sox Yankee game... his heart wasn't in it. This team was better after Nomar left.

I believe any Red Sox fan over 20 shares my feelings. Look: We've been here before. I'm not saying this year can't be different, I'm just saying don't get your hopes up too high. I've been crushed by this team too many times to think game 7 is going to be easy.

Oh yes you did, you said we should trade him to the Dodgers, back in June. You lost ALL faith then, why are you still on the ship? You kept saying that Steinbrenner gets what he wants, I said they had no prospects, but you kept assuring Red Sox Nation that the Yankees would win it all. You picked AGAINST the Red Sox, you never do that unless they suck, and you want to win some cash, but never when there good. Your the one who said Millar would be better as a bench player/ "cheerleader" were your words I believe. You also stated we should trade Nomar for prospects, which doesn't make that much sense. There's something called faith, that people hang on to looking for the best. It's something I have that I love to have. Why should I live my life looking down instead of up?

I think you're getting your wires crossed a little bit.

Millar is a great cheerleader, and I think I DID say that.

I NEVER said trade Pedro.

People backed me up when I said I thought Johnson was going to the Yankees.... including just about EVERY newspaper on the east coast... so I can't be blamed for that.

Believe me, I was one of the few people on this board with the Sox down 2-0 saying it isn't over. I believe that this team can win it. I just prepare myself for the worst when it comes to the Red Sox. A lifetime of losing will do that to you.

I will be listening to my radio for EVERY PITCH of tonight's game, cheering my ass off like everyone else.

In any case, Gammons has called this “the most anticipated game in baseball history." I certainly hope it lives up to the hype, and the sox come out on top.
