Here's what Gammons said in this latest article:

Sunday night was the best bite and command Lowe has had of his sinker all season.

Here's what he Boston Globe reported as official word from the Sox:

Derek Lowe avoided aggravating the blister on his right thumb by throwing virtually no sinkers in his win over the Yankees Sunday night.

hey gammons is a good baseball analist but he uses stupid lines to make himself look smart

This appears to be an oxymoron...if he's a good analyst, then he is inherently smart. Gammons has so much credibility that he doesn't need to "make himself look smart."

Gammo is the most intelligent baseball analyst out there, IMO. Even though he is slightly biased to the Sox (he did write for the globe for years), he knows about everything that is happening and baseball. Lately, he's been opining about politics and music, which I don't particularly care for.

I was at the game Sunday night, in dead center field (section 34). DLowe's sinker WAS nasty. Unfortunately, his slider was off. Everytime he got ahead in the count, he'd go to his slider, which would miss away and increase his pitch count. Note that Lowe only let up 2 runs, yet had a pitch count of ~100 through 6 innings. His sinker was definitely ON Sunday night...it was his slider that was OFF.

Exactly...he threw some of his best sinking stuff because he wasn't trying to throw his sinker. Finally Derek didn't fly off the handle and pitched well.

Gammons is by far one of the best baseball analysts. He knows the game inside and out and is very well-respected. I don't know that I can say that for many at the Globe or Herald. Most of the Boston media are a joke.

I have to side against you Zenny (for the first time in a while) and say that Gammons usually knows what he's talking about.

That is a little curious to hear the two completely different reports...

Gammons usually has some good insight, but he was way off here. I was at the game (with pictures on the Internet to prove it) and he wasn't throwing any sinkers.

What Gammons has going for him are insider connections. He knows who to talk to to get info. Other than that, I don't think he's all that great. Plus, on BBTN or WEEI, he does a lot of stammering... and then he'll just give up on what he saying and try to start a new sentence.

I hate to say it but I have been watching the guy for years and I always have thought he was kind of a an egostical self-important boob. He pretends to be an insider b ut I dont think he has bever been right about anything nor first.

But, he covered the sox and is I suppose given a pass becasue he's a fan.

Never right about anything or first to get the story? Who broke the story of a potential Schilling trade IN NOVEMBER (yes...gammons). Who broke the story of all the Arod trade talks? (again gammons) The list goes on and on. There isnt another baseball analysist out there who has half the credability that Gammons does. Hes been doing it for years, has the most connections to players, agents, and owners. If you want the most accurate information on what is actually going on in the league you would make it a point to read up on Gammons.

C'mon Zenny...that was arguably Lowe's best-pitched game of the season, and Lowe is a sinker-ball pitcher. He really doesn't have anything else going for him. How could he systematically break-down the Yankees without his best pitch? I'm siding with Gammons in this debate...plus, batstats and I witnessed these sinkers from dead centerfield.

Just because Gammons stammers or have the best prose when he's on the radio doesn't mean he's not a great analyst. I'll take Gammons' word over anyone else's any day. He's one of the few in the business with a proven track record.

i went to the game where d-lowe pitched and i saw the baseball tonight stand thing set up, and i think jon kruk is the man!!! he waved to us during a commercial break.

o yeah, i hate kerry and i thought it was awesome he heard more boos then cheers...and he made me appreciate d-lowe a lot more when he pitched the first one out from in front of the mound on the grass and didnt even reach home...i also lost my voice screaming at him...it was fun, and during the commercial i heard many "kerry sucks, kerry sucks,". nows the time to wonder why they didnt play the sound on sportscenter or any highlights when they showed him throwing out the first pitch...and the "sox fans for kerry" signs pissed me off too. i went up to them with a couple of my friends and yelled in their faces go bush! it was fun...anyway, thanks for reading my boring post.
