  1. seems to me that a lot of teams are asking too much for these guys and thats what is holding a lot of deals up. in the NL central it appears that after the cardinals everyone else will be chasing that wild card spot so i could imagine the cubs and astros trading away players. all of these rumors and no action has me wondering if we will see anything good at all come before the trade deadline.
  2. any news on the suspension and when it will be served. I got Poppy on my fantasy team as well...gotta know when to bench him....hopef Millar can continue his tear when Ortiz and Varitek are out. Mirabelli should pull his weight for a few games.
  3. Exactly...he threw some of his best sinking stuff because he wasn't trying to throw his sinker. Finally Derek didn't fly off the handle and pitched well. Gammons is by far one of the best baseball analysts. He knows the game inside and out and is very well-respected. I don't know that I can say that for many at the Globe or Herald. Most of the Boston media are a joke.
  4. You can run for a charity organization who applies for so many entrants and they'll get you a number. Of course you have to do your part and fund raise, but it's worth being able to run Boston. All the drunk college kids and families along the 26.2 miles, heartbreak hill, the Wellesley, BC, and BU girls cheering you on....gotta love Beantown on Patriots day.
  5. hopefully people are a bit more excited about the pats then they are with this thread...ah you win some you lose some, right?
  6. Anyone interested in joining a fantasy football league or two? Maybe even Survivor football league?
  7. yeah real selfish move on Willams part to not hint at this until he dropped the bomb on them. Luckily the Patriots grabbed Dillon and should not have to worry about the Dolphins.
  8. RJ's agent is even pushing for him to be traded to the Evil Empire according to the Arizona Republic newspaper. Whatever, if he does go anywhere I hope his left arm falls off. RJ is a sell out. Get rid of the Diamondbacks franchise if he leaves. Combine them with the Expos in hopes of drawing 15,000 people to a game.
  9. Yeah the no-trade clause is a joke. If you're a superstar and not breaking the bank for your team then they will not want to trade you because you're drawing fans. A no-trade clause in a contract just insures the player. I think all-sports should incorporate the "pay-for-play" clause....you have a crappy year then you don't get paid as well the following year or have to defer the salary in later years thus making you work harder to improve. haha!
  10. I have thought all along, and mentioned Renteria and Cabrera in the same breath a few times on another Sox board. I think he would work well in the Sox lineup. Plays good defense and is young. All excellent qualities we're looking for.
  11. I would like to see the Phillies win. I think they will start to play a bit better, but obviously aren't consistent which makes me wonder if they can go anywhere in the playoffs.
  12. sounds as though Mussina might be hurt as well. htttp://www.bostonsportsnation.com
  13. that's true the ball does fly off the bat a bit better at Coors Field.
  14. What are your thoughts on the upcoming season as the Pats defend their title with the addition of Corey Dillon?
  15. Boras is a royal pain in the @ss. Remember this when you think about the prices you pay for tickets, souvenirs, concessions, parking, etc... ...and if what you guys envision really does happen to him...I hope they don't report it on ESPN or glorify him. Just let him go on his way. Haha!
  16. Let's just hope it's in the bullpen warming up, or else you would otherwise see Gagne when the Sox are losing. We can't have that !!!
  17. I would a young guy like Youkilis is versatile enough to play first base, yes. I would like to get that bat in the lineup most definitely. And he is a nice big target at 1B for the infielders to throw to.
  18. Honestly, I would love to see Trot back in 5-6 days, but I don't think we need to rush things with the Interleague schedule in progress. Get him a few pinch hit attempts possibly for now when he is ready to ease him back into it.
  19. right and then of those 2000...about 1900 end up on ebay and drive the price of them all down anyway.
  20. Some favorites that come to my mind....in no particular order C?sar Izturis Mark Grudzielanek Homer Bush Kazuhisa Ishii Shigetoshi Hasegawa Rich "Dick" Harden
  21. Yes, various reports have Nomar playing tonight or later in the week. He will probably take BP and workout a bit and will be a game time decision.
  22. Wells has pitched poorly this season, Nomar may be back, and Pedro is coming off a rough outing with some fire in his belly...all some factors that I think will play into the home town team today. The Red Sox will destroy that sh*t bum Wells... I just hope that the Red Sox don't struggle again with the rest of the interleague schedule or it could be a rough June.
  23. He threw 48 strikes as well. I think once his mind is back in the game he will be fine. Maybe overconcentrating and trying to steer the ball a bit more than usual. There were rumors that he was tipping his pitches but I don't see it. I think he just forces it to much and when hits are given up or a bad call happens he gets frustrated and can't put things behind and move forward. Glad to see him do well again...
