Williams is a good, young pitcher. He just hasn't shown it thus far this season. Don't take him too lightly, because he can be great.

Why start this so early? We aren't done discussing tonights game. We usually start game threads mid-day of the game day.

yes this is way to early to start a thread, ill let it go this time tho...next time dont start the game day thread until the day of the game.

anyone know if wakey is still hurting? at sunday night's game against the dodgers, he was wearing some kind of brace around his wrist (which might explain his horrible performance last saturday)...i think one of the boston newspapers mentioned that he hurt his thumb...?

Francona about pitching to Bonds:

"I struggle with that," said Red Sox manager Terry Francona. "It goes against the grain of how I feel about putting runners on base. We may do it sometimes. But he is that one guy that sometimes you may change up and do something a little bit different. There are also times when you have to get him out to win a game. He impacts the game like nobody else can."

And trot4mvp, I couldn't find anything about an injury to Wake. So I guess, if he didnt hurt his thumb, it isn't that big of a deal. And it doesnt really take a thumb to throw a knuckler, its either on or it isnt. Let's just hope its on against Bonds.

I'm excited about tonight's game. The big question seems to be:

Will the Red Sox actually pitch to Bonds? Should they?

my take:

Will they? Probably not. Seems not many other teams do.

Should they? Yes. I love the strategy of the game, but I only think an intentional walk is in order when setting up a double play. With nobody on base, PITCH TO BONDS!! If he beats you, tip your cap.

It'll be interesting to listen to (I don't get the games on TV so I have to listen on radio) the Wakefield/Bonds matchup. Timmy gives up his fair share of gopherballs, and Barry likes to hit them!

Let's go Sox! I hope yesterday's game was the wake-up the offense needed. And how about Lowe! awesome game, pitching 7 shutout innings...at Coors no less

Man, the bottom of that lineup looks pretty damn weak. I hope the Belly hits a dinger and maybe even a single from Wake.

And Bellhorn, no K's (or errors) tonight, ok? We can co-exist if you work with me.

Wow Mirabelli has already made 5 bad plays in this innings. He should have thrown out at least one of those runners, two passed balls (or wild pitches but he should have caught them), and that play at the plate was pathetic. And Wakefield's looking great too, so that's even more frusterating.

Also, I am not a fan of walking Bonds in the first inning. Just because first is open, doesn't mean he has to be put on.

wtf Tito, you're too nice! Right there, you run out and give the umps hell for that. That was clearly a homerun, everyone knows it. Remy's voice cracked out of frustration!

Man, I hate *******s who reach over and rob players of homeruns. Damn fans. And he's so proud of himself too. But at least Nomy got the triple. :D
