I didn't see what was wrong with the way Martinez was performing. It wasn't as if he had given up 3 or 4 consecutive hits. He can pitch the 7th inning for christ sake. He has durability issues...he needs to build his body up...he was doing just fine....

He was wild in the first 2 innings. He was really getting on a roll until he was taken out. It's a moot point anyway... I knew this was coming, Francona said his job was to make sure Pedro and Schilling were healthy and fresh in October and he didn't care if they thought differently about his decisions. Sounds good and UnGrady-like.

Just a few thoughts on this game:

- I know it's just the opener but I want badly to win every one

- Pedro didn't pitch badly but his velocity has undoubtedly gone down

- Pokey should not be bunting in that situation...i don't care if he's Duane Kuiper

- Tito should not have run Kapler with Tek up in the 1st...it reminded me of last year's playoffs...strike'em out, throw'em out

- Embree should've faced Palmeiro in the 7th and there shouldn't have been a shift on

- the Cesar Crespo era has not started very well

- Kapler, Bellhorn, Mueller, and Manny are the only offensive standouts in my mind

i agree wit the shift on raffy..... it didnt work the first time and u could tell he was trying to push it the otha way..... i dont like shifts any way i think they are stupid

Alright, I think what I'll be doing in this forum is closing the game threads after the game is over and there is nothing much else to say. Since this is an off day i'll be closing it now, but from now on I'll close the previous thread once the next game starts. How does that sound?
