Some ofmthose layers had higher rankings because of graduated prospects and tades. Basabe wouldnt have been in the top 10 as well as a couple more...not to take anything away from he kid, ut he wasnt a true top 10 IMHO.

Swiharts value is as a catcher. DD isnt moving anyone in hat OF. Swihart will start in AAA with a catchers mit. Id be willing to bet on it...id also be willing to bet tha there is a very good chance hes used in a trade at the deadline. DD loves JBJ. Wanted him when he was in Detroit...if JBJ can it 260 with 25 hr and play sellar D im good wih that...not sure why your so tough on the kid. He had solid numbers last year

But he still hits both well...cant say the same or jbj, but jbjs D saves his ass. I understand giving a guy a blow. I was talkin about on a regular basis replacing Beni...doesn't make sense to me.

It makes zero sense with Beni since he can hit both R and LHP. JBJ struggles more with LHP.

Im guessing he likes the tens of millions that come with making the WS and even more if they win. Then he can use that extra $$ to pay said taxes....he wont go crazy, hes not stupid. But im sure he wont hesitate to go over a little if it makes sense. Cleveland got an extra 48m for being in the WS

Kopech is the only player traded that I was really really high on, but we got Sale. Providing his health is good, which is hard to predict if the medicals pass, then Im good. I expect Kopech to be a dominant MLB pitcher. Gotta give to get

Too funny...hes been an MLB GM for decades but hes all wrong? Id say hes done a fine job here so far. we now have 5 young and controlled positional starters for at least three years, as well as a couple position players of need still left in the system with Dvers and Travis And Delbac. Groome is also still here. Our pitching staff is set for the next 3 years with 3 CY type pitchers! Thats pretty badass. Now, when we start to shed payroll over the next three years with guys like Hanley, Buch, Panda, etc..we will then sign our young nucleous. That gives us three more years to draft, develop and make some more trades/FA acquisitions to balance it out....actually, this is EXACTLY how you do it as long as drafting is good. Groome is a very good start...like DD said, 3-4 years is an eternity in MLB. You strike when the window is open, which it is. You may not agree with certain trades but that doesnt mean that hes "All Wrong".... far from it. Dont get so attached to prospects. Identify a few and stick with them as DD has done. Then use the rest to fill the holes.

Problem now is you have a 13.5m swing man in Buch...not really worth that $$ in that role. Hes a perfect trade candidate. When talking depth, usually its not guys making north of 10m per. ERod was a suggestion if they want to get some prospects back to replenish the farm. BOth are possible with Buch being the more probable

The thing is he hasnt spent a lot of $$$... only prospects I think they really are trying to reset the LT this year if they can. I see him shedding some payroll if the opportunity is there..ie;Buchholz

I think they want a LH corner/DH type player to platoon...unless Joey Bats will take a 1 year make good deal, Im not sure the Sox are looking for another RHH EE is just too much...

Heres a thought. Buchs 13m would be nice. Are you ok with having four LHP in our rotation with 81 games in Fenway? Sorry, Im not. Another scinario is trading ERod or Pom for someone. Maybe even ERod and someone else for prospects to replenish the system a little and to not be a so LH heavy rotation

We could use ERod and another player to get back a couple more prospects to replenish the system. We have too many MLB starters now. And Four LHP...Buch could be salary relief now. More moves to come

Its the way MLB is going with most starters now only going 5-6IP and 100ish pitches, thus the cost of bullpen arms going way up both in $$$ and in trades...The trick is to try and identify the talent and along with some years of control. DD has been very good so far with that. Thornburg looks to be another good find. Kimbrels contract will be a steal compared to some of these deals the next two years. I think the choice of prospects to be dealt were good. DD and his team identified their keepers in the system and held onto them. Now he is starting the process of moving the rest for more pressing needs. I expect more moves. -
I love the deal. I have to trust that the brass have it taken care of regarding the medicals. If not, we will have another Smith situation and then two years of service. Right now I love the deal. Dubon might be a good regular, but I dont see anything special with him right now. He was blocked anyway. Shaw was expendable and Pennington could be something if he finds some control/command. Kelly, Barnes, Smith(midseason), Thornburg, Kimbrel...thats a nice back end.

Hey Dojji, The Dh role appears to be a platoon this year. Theyre looking for a LHH corner IF type, it seems, to go with Young and maybe Hanley for some games at DH. Moreland would platoon DH/1b/Bench
