  1. Hang’em Chaim appears to be grasping for any life line he can find.
  2. The bullpen cost us the series against the orioles! It remains a dumpster fire in progress.
  3. It is very difficult to predict how pitchers return from UCL replacement surgery. Mata appears to be coming back very strong and throwing the ball really well with no decrease in pre UCL velocity, Groome is probably never going to get his pre UCL velocity back and never going to develop past a Valdez type relief pitcher. We have to see sale throw before we can figure out his recovery is progressing.
  4. I think hernandez timing is starting to get better. He may heat up soon. Dalbec remains a mystery. All the tools are there except maybe discipline, and yet it is hard to tell if he just gets lucky or is just not picking up the spin of the ball? Bradley is just a walking D.O.A.
  5. The best thing about this game was that Bello did not have his best stuff and was struggling to throw strikes. But he got through the first 4 innings without giving up a run despite a lot of base runners. He ran out of gas in the 5th inning, though!
  6. Are our current batch of young guys getting a fair shot at showing their stuff? We have so many journeymen on the roster that seem to get preferential treatment just because they have major league experience and not because of superior performance.
  7. Refsynder with his 6th tater of the season. Hernandez with his 3rd tater of the season. Stewart with his 7th tater of the season.
  8. Miller with his 7th tater of the season! Go war eagle!
  9. We have Bello and mata, both of whom should be major league starters. Walter is a wildcard, but I am not sure he makes it as a starter, especially if you can lay off the slider and feast on the fastball! Gonzalez could be the best of the bunch, if his command and control improves. After that, the cupboard is pretty bare for starters.
  10. Winkowski gave an interview where he said the baseballs were different and he could not get a good grip, it was like the baseballs were slick. He said he gave up pitching and just started aiming,
  11. Sogard with his 2nd tater of the season. Castellaneous with his 7th tater of the season. Groome could have hurt his neck after giving up 4 meatballs in two innings.
  12. Yes, my bad! I just wanted to talk about ottavino!
  13. Kavadas with his 4th tater of the season….to go with a ton of walks on the year!
  14. Ottavino is not a guy I would classify as having “stuff”! More appropriately, I would classify ottavino’s “stuff” as any of the following: 1.) ordinary stuff 2.) bland stuff 3.) Luke warm stuff 4.) uninspiring stuff 5.) 3 day old donut stuff 6.) well past the expiration date stuff 7.) Erectile dysfunctional stuff There are probably more, but I think you know where I am headed in my evaluation of ottavino!
  15. Major league teams are not trading us their closer. But there has to be a triple a pitcher that is a serious closer candidate that has his path blocked or a triple a guy with stuff not getting a chance, that we can trade for!
  16. Granberg’s on base percent is now .447. He has been around .450 most of the season. Time to move him up to Worcester.
  17. Wilson with his 2nd tater of the season for Portland.
  18. Refsynder with his 5th tater of the season. Sanchez with his 7th tater of the season. Potts with his 6th tater of the season.
  19. Our bullpen blew an 8 to 2 lead against the orioles! Pitiful!
  20. And that is the rub for Hang’em Chaim. How to be competitive while needing to rebuild a decimated farm system! 2020 was a total reset. I get it. 2021, we were two wins from the World Series. That was the very rare circumstance where everything falls our way! Probably not going to happen that way again! 2022 hang’em Chaim did all but one thing correctly when it comes to roster building. And that one thing he bungled has killed us. He did not get a closer. 11 blown saves (and counting)is the anchor killing us thus far this season. Meanwhile, our farm system is a bit of a donut. Some very high ceiling prospects in Worcester and Salem. Much less overall talent in Greenville and Portland. He needs more time and a couple more drafts to get this fixed!
  21. Barnes is pitiful. He must be sent to the dl for a few months in order to get his act together. This is embarrassing. 4 walks. Putrid!
  22. Bogey and devers are franchise cornerstones. You do what you need to do to keep them. You use your minor league system to bring in young (future) promising players around then and fill the rest of the roster with short term free agents. Aka ….. the Atlanta blue print.
  23. The bullpen has blown 11 saves in 19 attempts, I think. And yet Cora keeps trotting Robles out there in the 9th inning. Cora must have the highest threshold for inflicting pain on a fan base of any manager ever!
  24. Do we have two reliable arms to replace sawamura snd robles in Worcester or do we need to go outside the organization?
  25. Davis of Greenville with the only tater of the night, his 6th of the season. Walter threw a spectacular game. Only gave up 1 hit over 7 innings striking out 8. The one hit was a meatball he served up! Keep walter away from Hartford and he is absolutely incredible! If he keeps this up, he will need a ticket to Worcester!
