  1. the 1992 Sox scored just 599 runs -the fewest since 1943 and one of the lowest totals ever. we may challenge that this year.
  2. the way we were shafted on the Devers trade, they should just give us a few decent players.
  3. talk about the bottom of the barrel. or is this the cream of the crap?
  4. yeah, i'm a big fan of "Willy" and hope he does well in Tampa, but no way you compare them.
  5. good for you. some people mistakenly think a bell around the cat's neck will help, by alerting the birds to the cat's presence, when in truth the cat just learns how to catch wildlife, without the bell making any noise.
  6. i have nothing against cats, as long as they're kept indoors. left outside, they're too hard on wildlife, like birds, rabbits, etc.
  7. Donovan was an all-star last year, FWIW. and from perusing Mariners Talk, their fans are very happy about the trade. i agree, i don't think they gave up too much for a good player that fit a need. maybe Bresloverpay will take note.
  8. good for you. native plants= native insects= native birds. non-native plants =nearly nothing.
  9. WIlliamson is an absolutely outstanding fielder, but his bat is weak. maybe he'll improve on that. Emerson has enormous potential. i'm sure he starts in AAA this year.
  10. considering their history, it is -at least to me- no surprise at all.
  11. just wait til they trade their most productive hitter (Duran) for a box of marbles.
  12. i'll be spending nearly all of March in Phoenix. and i have tickets to a bunch of Mariners games. i'll let you know how bad he does.
  13. he might get to the bigs, but i'd be surprised.
  14. not if they never make it to the MLB level.
  15. i've never seen Arias play, so i have no opinion on that. and, frankly, Arias has nothing to do with Arroyo.
  16. they have their opinions and i have mine. and, again, i just think it's nuckin futz that they value those three the same.
  17. i have nothing against him, i just don't think he has MLB talent. and no way he should be valued the same as Mize and Hoerner.
  18. i was wondering what it would take to get Hoerner, so i decided to look at some of the trades proposed on BTV. there are several mock trades with the Red Sox and i'd be fine with most all of them. what caught my eye, though, was a proposed 3-team trade between the TIgers, Mariners and Cubs, involving Nico, Casey Mize and Seattle AA second baseman, Michael Arroyo. i'm sorry, but there is no world where Arroyo is worth either of these guys, yet BTV values them all the same. i know they have their methods for calculating value but, IMHO, they SERIOUSLY overvalue minor league players. i've seen Arroyo play and he may be the Mariner's 5th best suspect, but he'll never make it.
  19. i think Breslow was inflexible, ergo, stiff. it wouldn't be that big a deal to me, but not signing him after losing Raffy for signing him in the first place is what sucks. and that wouldn't be so bad if they signed someone to replace him/Devers. so now, besides a black hole at second, we also have one at third. i wish they still had the both of them, but hey...what a shitshow.
  20. i think Bregman really wanted to stay. i think Cora really wanted him to stay. and i think Breslow f***ed it up.
  21. i think they're a bit high on Donovan and a bit light on Casas and Harrison. i'd do that deal, obviously.
  22. something is gonna hafta give or they'll keep buying World Series championships for here on.
