  1. Always about money, but time does matter. Would you rather have Raffy under control for 2 more years, or 1 more year?
  2. The only data I want to see is a box score, which going back to the old Sporting News papers I am a junkie.
  3. Nothing wrong with that. All I’m saying is for me I could care less about analytics,, and I don’t need it, or care about it to watch anything to do with sports. I didn’t need it 60 years ago, and I don’t need it now. Nothing wrong with that, and nothing wrong with people who like it.
  4. What led to your belief that Kike was the best CF the Red Sox ever had? Eye test, or analytics?
  5. I watch enough to tell me that Bogey does not have lots of range. I don’t need anything else to tell me any different. You like all the analytics, and I do not, so everyone has a different view, or a different need to tell them something that happens, or is going on.
  6. Like I have said so many times, but with way to many stats out there today the best test is still the eye test.
  7. This is all good, and true, but I don’t think Price would have been signed if Lester would have resigned.
  8. No votes for Price who Lester was basically traded for at a much steeper price?
  9. And the Sox stiffed him with a lowball contract offer.
  10. What the Red Sox will do with Bogey, and Raffy is the million dollar question.
  11. I guess I still haven’t learned yet when I generalize when making statements, because people like to analyze, and zero in kind of like Moon’s head scratching, and people went on, and on even though he didn’t mean it that way, so I’ll try it again. Blooms main way of operation is to scour the bargain basements etc where Theo, and Dombrowski would do it, but was not there main way of doing things. I don’t think Bloom would spend Thanksgiving with a Whacka type like Theo did with Schillings. .
  12. That was quite a find just like EL Tiante back in the day.
  13. No I don’t have a source, but just an opinion like everyone else. Every teams GM is different depending on what the goal is, and how much money they have to spend. GM’s in Boston, and NY are a lot different than Florida, or Pittsburg, or this year being a big spender like Texas. Dombrowski had worn out his welcome, and the Red Sox wanted to take a different approach of doing things, and that’s why I think that’s why Bloom got hired, which is nothing wrong in doing that.
  14. Moon I know you know the answer to this, but with spending $40M last year how much did they actually add to the overall payroll?
  15. I ve mentioned this before that Bloom got hired to scour the bargain basements, minor leagues, and waiver wire that he had experienced at Tampa something that the likes of Dombrowski, or Theo wouldn’t do.
  16. I know I said they were not big senders last year, but big contracts were what I meant. I’ve been hearing you talk about $40M for some time now, so I wouldn’t forget about that, but $40 million wasn’t so big to the Sox not that long ago.
  17. I’m not saying they don’t spend money, but just that they are not giving out big contracts at the present time.
  18. I keep hearing that people say they trust Bloom, and he knows what he’s doing, and I’m not disputing that, but how he does business is not really up to him, but up to John Henry.
  19. I’m talking about the last two years. I already mentioned their overall payroll was up there, but most of that was accumulated prior to 2020. The Sox offered a token contract to Mookie knowing he wouldn’t take it, and probably won’t extend, or rework Bogey. Then it’s a toss up on Raffy, so I’m not all that impressed with being sixth in payroll at the present time. The next two years will tell how they will go in the near future.
  20. No the Sox Can not claim to be big spenders each year. Their overall payroll is up there, but they didn’t spend big last year, and so far they have stuck to what they said they would do this year, and not spent much either.
  21. The deal has been questionable from the time it was made prospects, or not.
  22. Sean Mcadams reported a few weeks ago that Bos, Yankees, and Toronto were the most aggressive after him.
  23. He’s just not an outfielder.
  24. Wishful thinking that JBJ wouldn’t need a platoon. He may need a replacement as it is if he doesn’t hit his weight again.
  25. Lots of talk about Suzuki, and would be worth a shot, but the Yankees are interested too.
