  1. Back to the bargain basement.
  2. Do you think Downs, and Duran are very highly rated, and in demand at this point?
  3. I don’t think they traded for JBJ to use as trade bait, and I don’t think anyone else would want him with that contract.
  4. JBJ is not going to be a 4th outfielder for the money he’s making.
  5. It’s not like Moon, and I haven’t agreed on things before.
  6. Moon understood it, and I understood it, but we just didn’t like the trade. The head scratching part is how some were so hung up on that phrase.
  7. I hope we are wrong on this one, but until we are I don’t like it.
  8. No matter what you call it I think it is a bad trade. Bloom does not always get everything right.
  9. Why do you think Bloom has the payroll to spend, and if he does why is he filling up the rotation with the likes of Whacka? I don’t think he has the payroll to spend, and that is why he’s making these kind of moves, and also adding prospects.
  10. Bloom likes prospects, because he has to. Do you think Bloom would act, or react the way he does if he had a bigger checkbook like Dombrowski did? Do you think he would be making a lot different kind of deals?
  11. I get it too, and I’m with you on this Moon.
  12. It’s not about Renfroe, but the money being spent on JBJ when more money should have been spent on the rotation. If you can pay JBJ $10+M for the next two years you could have upgraded to someone better than Whacka for the rotation.
  13. It’s the Holiday season. Another week, and I might have.
  14. Hope all you want. Bloom gets a very low passing grade on this one.
  15. Yes, and those are the type of guys that Bloom takes a shot at, and turned out to be a bargain at $3M. JBJ is no bargain at $10+M for two more years.
  16. The point is that the Red Sox would have never given JBJ a contract paying him $10+M at the time he became a FA if it had only been for 1 yr, and now they will pay him for 2 yrs coming off a 160 season, and trading away 96 RBI in the process. Even in his prime his D would not make up the difference, and now at 32 he may have lost a step. I didn’t like this trade when it happened, and I like it even less now. I was all for trading Renfroe, but not for JBJ.
  17. For what he signed for in Detroit? Yes.
  18. I have stated many times that I would not give out any $300M contracts, and Mookie did not want to stay anyways, so if you look at like you said I would agree with that.
  19. You are all about the difference in money between JBJ, and Renfroe. All I’m saying is I would have liked more money spent on the rotation, and not gotten guys like Whacka.
  20. Only some on here would say Betts for Duggie straight up would have been a good deal.
  21. I understand all about the prospect aspect of everything, but if these prospects for Renfroe never take the field for the Sox the trade is Renfroe for JBJ. My problem with the trade, which I’ve said all along is that the Sox never would have given JBJ the contract that the Brewers did in the first place, and now they are taking that contract on for 2 more years anyway, and in the meantime signing retreads for the rotation. To me more money should have been spent on the rotation, and not JBJ. If more money had been spent on the rotation, which was the biggest need I wouldn’t have had such a big problem with this trade.
  22. I’m not giddy with prospects like some of you are on here. I didn’t like Jeter Downs, and Wong, and I don’t like the prospects they got for Renfroe who none of them may contribute much of anything to the Sox. Give me actual players like Duggie any time who you know they can play.
  23. I guess it depends on how high, or how low you set the bar for JBJ.
  24. A gross overpay is right. Bloom cashes in bottles, and cans, and shops in the bargain basement for starting pitching, and then goes out, and pays JBJ $10+M that they never would have signed him for in the first place after he became a FA after the 2020 season. Renfroe was a big surprise with his 96 RBI, but I don’t see any big surprises coming from JBJ’s bat.
  25. I’m all for improving the D, and I was all for trading Renfroe, but JBJ would not have been on my list to be traded for. I didn’t see it on anyone else’s list either.
