  1. The hitters are getting hard to watch. Time for a breakout inning by Boston, not Toronto who just tied it up.
  2. Credit Price for being tough after taking that shot to the chest and getting himself out of trouble . However , at 49 pitches through 2 , he will have trouble getting through 5 with or without a bad bruise. Starters just not getting any depth for Boston leaving the bullpen vulnerable. We'll see what happens
  3. The lineup shuffle continues. The Oh for season Pedroia gets off his feet and Betts is clearly deeply wounded. It will be interesting to see how they respond today against an inferior pitcher after yesterday's overmatch. Time to get back on the winning side
  4. You just did and this particular game truly sucked
  5. A real phone it in, dog ate my homework effort. But keep winning series no matter how and they will keep the East title.
  6. It is a regrettable but true mathematical possibility that Pedroia goes 0 for the season with 367 flyballs to right field. Not likely but trending that way.
  7. The comment after Porcello's POS start this week was that every once in a while the team and/or pitcher throws a clunker. Well, here's 2 in a week . Constant lineup shuffling due to injury, rest or DFA's. They should all get participation trophies today, especially if they rally to win it.
  8. Good thing JBJr is in for his defense.
  9. Devers (and many others) look overmatched today. Sale counts on getting no support , so no news to him. O'Brien calls Flowers HR only Sales's 3rd HR given up at Fenway. Well Dave, it i still May so plenty of chances for more. At some point the Sox may need to get Devers some help in terms of a 30-45 days at Pawtucket working on basics of hitting and fielding. Looks like a sophomore slump which I think Bogaerts had a couple years ago too.
  10. No Betts, No JDM, Sale unfocused giving up a 3 run bomb in the second are not the ingredients for a sweep. One guy in the lineup hitting ZERO and 2 guys below .200. The only thing getting swept will be the concourses after this game
  11. Note that this was the first game the Red Sox counted more than 6 runs in about a month, except for the one 10 run beatdown of the Yankees
  12. I trust we had to use HR Kimbrel because Carson Smith was unavailable. The HR's are a bit of a concern as he has been letting opponents launch. Joe Kelly may have found a groove if he can replicate 10 pitches for 3 outs, avoiding the 2 out walk. Benentendi denied a shot at the cycle since Kimbrel didn't blow the save. Very selfish, Craig. Nice welcome back to Pedey from the Fenway faithful. Steven Wright working his way into the mix. Pomeranz is a mystery but I'm getting visions of Clay Buchholz and Daniel Bard issues. Keep winning 2 of 3 every series and the standings will take care of themselves.
  13. Pedroia continues his Oh for the season streak. How long can we carry this guy ? (not serious) The Sox just got a lot better with yesterday's moves. More Moreland at first, give Devers a chance to find himself again rotating Nunez/Holt and him at 3rd base, That's a better defensive infield for sure.
  14. Nice try Drew. Your participation trophy will be forwarded to your new address, probably the DL. Velasquez will be in to mop up and should become the new 5th starter taking Pomeranz's place. I know he sucked early last year and got hot with the weather but how much patience can they have with the assortment of junk he throws ?
  15. Amazing things happen when your sub .200 hitters can contribute. Bradley's triple last night, and Swihart/Vazquez singles with MoB and 2 outs. Moving Hanley opened things up.
  16. Pomeranz is totally unlikeable. Black clouds hang around this guy. Usually with two outs and two strikes on a hitter
  17. You must be the DA to not recognize obtuse humor, JO.
  18. Pedey obviously not much of a hitter. Must be in for defensive purposes. Why does Pomeranz look like he just sucked a lemon and slumps his way off the field. This guy has head issues. Sean Newcomb looks like a young Jon Lester, but he must go down today.
  19. Aside from just tonight's gaffe at 1st base , Devers has the athleticism of a sea lion on the beach. His lack of baseball instinct and discipline is probably typical for a 21 year old. Although he can slash it around, maybe another few months in Pawtucket could help get him focused. Lots of raw talent, not much experience and it shows at this level..
  20. Nothing like Devers and Benentendi's strike zones to help Teheran. Somewhat of a team wide slump moving in. Pedroia will need to jump start them but that may be asking too much while he gets up to game speed. Team looks unfocused the last night and today. Lots of games with no breaks in the schedule
  21. Maybe time to focus on Ed Rodriguez throwing strikes and getting out of the first 6 innings untouched. Not asking much.
  22. Looks like an Army march now, R/L/R/L/R/L , but as usual Vazquez and Bradley are out of step.
  23. Somewhere Ben Cherington tosses in his sleep thinking of what might have been, if the Sox had kept Theo or better yet let Larry Lucchino back under the tent for personnel decisions. There was no need for Dombrowski to cover up the ambush, except to have cover vs the MLBPA. Now Cora will have his flexibility. Maybe wake up some other guys named Bradley.
  24. Interesting to see the budget discussion and various possible moves to resign a couple of guys. Meanwhile the Sox will now be paying Hanley $15MM+- ; Panda $18MM+-; and Rusney Castillo $9MM+- to not play at Fenway. Those 3 non-players cost more than a couple teams overall budget , Derek Jeter. And glove throwing Carson Smith took himself out as a useless POS. It's been said more than a few times that DD and the Sox really need to win it all this year before the young core of this team moves on to "greener" arbitration and FA fields. Cora will be around for awhile so he may get to see the next generation of can't misses. Glad Pedroia is back and he needs to get it going quickly.
