  1. Not positive on '56, but it was at Fenway against the Orioles , final was 8-6.
  2. price with 9 outs on 30 pitches is shortening this game very nicely. Excellent work so far. Can we get a complete game and not challenge the BP
  3. What did he do in his second AB ? Not a hit.
  4. No, another f'ing K, not a hit.
  5. Agreed, when he realized he was dead, he should have turned back towrds first and made them chase him. Not praising him, except he did get the rbi hit.
  6. Can't really defend Nunez on multiple baserunning mistakes , but who in the lineup got a well placed hit to RF side to bring in the run. Look elsewhere before complaining too much. Nunez's mistake was guessing wrongly that the throw would go through to 3B, instead of being cut. Yamkees executed and Nunez got caught. I did notice Vaz and chavis going first to third on singles which Mr Betts has not done on multiple occasions.
  7. He's a fan favorite SS.
  8. Williams had 2 three run HR's in a single game in 1956
  9. Very encouraging shot by JDM. I'm sure if he was just camo'ing a bad back, AC would not put him in the field. So in the alternative, time for JD to get hot with the bat. Maybe the guys in front will get on base.
  10. I am certainly one who is awaiting Beni's wake up call , but one of his values to the Sox does lie in the team control/lower cost factor you point out. At least they are not overpaying for what they are getting from him. He is still quite young, like Devers and Chavis but should be showing more progressive, not regressive development. Plus his arm is really weak.
  11. I have to say thanks again for the extreme detail which does bring some sense to the actual results . You put a lot of time into it. The 30-29 minor mistake---clearly the result of a terrible bullpen composed by DD and mismanaged by WTF Cora . (Joking, of course. It's sad that it has to be clarified that way for some.0
  12. Two ways : WTF Cora and Nunez sucks.
  13. Love your stuff Mal, keep it coming.
  14. That's an interesting lineup. The fact that JDM is in RF tells me that his back is not the problem. His current ability to recognize and hit a pitch effectively is a problem. Nunez DH'ing in a game that could be called essential is a stretch, but I guess it was Eduardo or JBJr who will get a rest vs. CC. Maybe have Leon catch again and DH Vazquez ?? Sandy did actually have a couple of the limited hits last night. Ok, I'll summarize. This is a BS lineup for an important game. The Sox will consequently win, proving "that's baseball".
  15. I think my objection is when Cora refuses to PH a regular on his day off in the 8th or 9th inning when the sub-Mendoza line boys are up with RISP. Now in recent games, the bottom of the order has made strides above the .200 level, and the Betts, Beni's, JDM's, Chavis have failed significantly. Cora is getting whipsawed by his players .
  16. I would not pay the price for either of these two guys, especially on a 3-5 year deal. Both will be seriously unready to pitch for a month after they sign, and I would bet arm soreness will arrive by rushing back. Keuchel may well be a better choice , right now, than a Weber or Velazquez in the 5th starter role, but so should Eovaldi in a matter of days. The best thing that can happen in June is for Mookie, JDM and Beni to play to their career averages. That would be an upgrade over the past few weeks. Add one consistent vet to the BP and that may be all that gets done sooner than July. Depending on June results, DD can better assess whether our marginal guys have any market value . Most don't.
  17. The optimists were in command when the evidence was showing up in Ft. Myers. The preparation was uninspiring and the results to date are likewise. Don't quit. Just keep saying what you see, and of course, what the metrics support.
  18. More games than not the pen has kept the Sox in the game . More games than not, some professional hitters have failed with RISP . BP upgrades or just plug-ins ( F. Rodney, ugh) are of little value if you cannot score runs when the opportunity is standing all over the bases. One other point, starters seem to be guaranteed at least one Porcello per game, most often on 2 strike counts with 2 outs. Maybe starters need to learn how to close their own innings.
  19. Generally agree that Jacko's posts are irritating, just like losing. But if the Sox players don't want that type trash talk, try winning a game and quiet the noise.
  20. June 1, a .500 team going nowhere, a few IL guys but no true difference makers (maybe Eovaldi) Hard to figure but the stats don't lie 29-29.
  21. I think that was the intent (IL_ If JDM is not hurt in some way that is stopping his bat then we have an impostor wearing his uni. That is not the same guy that ripped line drives and long flies to right cewnter for the past few years.
  22. Beni gets credit for a hit when needed. Sox are one of the few teams whose leadoff hitter doesn't go first to third on a single to right
  23. Does Chapman realize Mookie is not running in this situation. And I hope Beni is not swinging
  24. So you are saying there's a chance , we don't have to learn new names to hero worship ?
  25. 9th inning rallies are more exciting. See what Betts does then.
