  1. Just wondering when the clock will run out on Andrew's potential, and refocus on his reality ? Not talking about these first two games alone (SSS) but the whole 2019 season .
  2. Maybe beni and Devers should be hitting 7 and 8 . Both look very unready for live pitching
  3. 2 out pitching, Dylan Stop digging the hole
  4. Or die of boredom
  5. Benintendi, say no more
  6. Verdugo's approach at bat is new and different. Might be a little hard to be fully in position to hit with a quick motion pitcher. He looks slimmer than earleir picture. Does this bat make me look fat ?
  7. Perez is f***ing clueless
  8. Also lost or MIA: is Devers
  9. Beni the Banger. Lost in space
  10. Perez is going to be some fun this summer. Back to the good old days of Sox pitchers who cannot get through the first inning.. Devers in prime form too, 2 games, 2 errors.
  11. the O's would be challenged in the Int'l League .
  12. Beni busts them out with a walk. Eck and Remi all but saying he misses a lot of prime strikes
  13. Nate has one W in the bag if he can go all 9. If he wants MB to come in the 8th, not so much
  14. Beni sucks as much as he has the last 2 years. Not my guy
  15. JBJ en fuego for his contract short year
  16. Didn't Milone mess them up last year (or more) with his brand of effective slop ?
  17. milone makes Beni and Raffy look bad
  18. great first inning, good indicator of going undefeated tonight
  19. By modern pitching standards there is nothing wrong with those numbers . Erod may get better at strike throwing and stop nibbling. My bet is on Martin Perez to become the thrower of many pitches, with lots of BP burn rate. Just guessing
  20. The results of the surgery are not guaranteed but the contract is. Follow the Ellsbury vs Yankees discussion going forward to see whose choice it is to play or not . Sale could be thinking the Pedroia situation , which probably needs its own investigation. The MD's must have told him the microfracture process with PRP would regrow Pedey's knee cartilage. I'll have to check with Jackson in NYC , but I think this procedure is getting discredited beyond beyond Pedroia's case. I have seen it fail on a family member and have had Orthos say it has limited time marginal outcomes. The comments on 10 days , then 14 days and any other extension do seem to make the point that Sale is reluctant for his own reasons or the tear has healed but scar or other internal issues are giving him pain, and might clear up with time. He doesn't come across as a wimp, and his money is already generational but who knows what goes on in his head.
  21. Not all would agree, but if the Sox would have dumped Price for 50% of his salary, and no players, just to deal with tax issue, then you can stretch it to say that they got 3 young, upside potential, under club control players ( Verdugo, Downs, Wong) for Mookie . AND if you are truly heartbroken you can choose to pay Mookie $500million for 10 years and get him back, since it's only about the money, right. No issue with this move although one starting pitcher possibility would have been of even more value. Not sure what else ownerhip and Kabloom could do for you in an organization starved for young talent as of 9/30/19. Jury is out still and will be for awhile on Sale, probably through April, after which they will determine he needs more rest or TJS.
  22. Congrats to Ryan Weber for being able to compete effectively for a role in the starting rotation, but over a multiple game stretch and when the opposing team rolls to the third time through, say the 5th inning, a good hitting team will be all over him. Excellent choice for an opener or second man in where his offspeed breaking stuff can confuse a hitter once or maybe twice but not much longer. There will also be games where Weber will get pounded early, like , say, a garbage can in the dugout. I do wish him well because the team needs him and he's battling with all he has to offer.
  23. So the creation of the new specialist LHPOG ( Left handed pickoff guy). The issue of a position player and pitcher reversal may have been anticipated by the rule, but it still would be an interesting maneuver . If intentional walks ( or HBP in Astros case) count towards your 3 hitters. Get the first out of an inning, notice that a LH hitter is the 4th guy due up , intentionally walk the next 3 to get the LH'er up with the bases loaded only to spring the LOOGY trick on them and get a DP ending the inning on one pitch. Adds excitement and speeds up the game instead of someone like Gardner hitting 12 foul balls.
  24. The DH can definitely come in to pitch but someone else needs to take his place in the field or the dugout. I debated whether this required clarification for the literalists among us.
  25. The beauty of those lyrics is that they work for a country song too, just need to work in the missing dog and broke down pickup truck. A reference to "Momma told me so" wouldn't hurt. Good stuff, MVP
