  1. I would give Johnson a shot at being at ST, mostly because no other team would try to get him. A much lower likelihood of JBJr being there , if his arb request is in the $10's or higher. At those levels a .220 hitter (on a good day) , pushing 30 is more of a liability than an asset on a team that clearly will need starting and relief pitching. Assuming DD staya around, he cannot have an off season like the winter of 2018/2019. The almost laughable team performance immediately after the July31 deadline vote of confidence may well induce some payback to a few this off season, just to show who is in charge here .
  2. Alex is applying the heat in search of a 2 game win streak. He heard something about the Mets making a move in the nL and figured he'd try it too.
  3. No, and tomorrow doesn't hold much promise either
  4. No, he got sent to the bullpen where his fantastic abilities will be allowed to shine. Just hide him in a corner and pretend he doesn't exist. The utter failure of DD's selected throwers this year reaches incredible proportions
  5. The 2019 red Sox will finish 84-78, a 24 game drop from their previous incredible regular season. The good news is that they will not lose a single playoff game this year, unlike the WS Championship year of 2018 when they lost 3 post season games. As DD syas, this is a good team.
  6. A TFCC cyst in the wrist , what else could happen to the crew. TFCC?? Throw Fast, Curve, Change = K's
  7. There is a reason one is called the pitcher and the other the catcher. Sale and all others are fully free to shake off the catcher's sign. Sale does not do that , but I doubt he throws meatballs to spite Leon (or Vaz). Sale needs to learn to pitch to spots and use his slider as a wipe out pitch when he gets to 2 strikes. Same can be said about a few of the other starters as well. Rodriguez's 3-2 counts, 2 out hits, 2 out walks, etc. are more a product of his weak confidence in his own stuff when the chips are on the line. His mechanics are awful, rarely finishing on balance in the same place on the mound. He is a thrower.
  8. They should only play this to a finish if it would impact the season outcomes for either of these catfish teams. Why mess up a perfectly good rest day in sunny SoCal. But if they don't play it out the stats would be short a few data points , like blown saves.
  9. Pedroia's latest knee woes would be disappointing enough, if it wasn't such an indictment of the doctors who thought they were fixing him the first and second time. Maybe Dustin in his haste to return overworked the damaged joint too much, but the medical processes didn't help. Strictly guessing but the joint preservation procedure might have been a partial knee replacement where only the inside or outside parts of the leg bones were capped with a metal/"teflon" type insert to eliminate the bone on bone condition. I have seen that done on older people when the stem cell-PRP treatment fails to generate new cartilage to rebuild a more natural knee. I doubt he will make anything but a token effort, to play again . But the Sox will get to pay for at least 2020's contract sum.
  10. Ironic that the NY Mets of all teams were able to assemble 12 wins in 13 games with a nothing special team, except a couple good starters. Oh wait, don't we have some of those. Guess not
  11. I'm sure X is pretty tired of backing up crappy starters but hate to see him quit on a pitch like that
  12. I appreciate what Chavis has done in a year he should have been at AAA. But that AB was awful. At 2-0 he had to be thinking dead red, got it center cut and slighlty down in the zone, his power stroke, then took it. Folled around on strike 2 up and in and chased the dirt dogshit for a K. lots to learn MC Hammer
  13. Happ looking like a true Red Sox pitcher there choking on the chicken grilled by Weber in the middle of the game
  14. Huge improvement and motivator. Guarantee about half up front, earn the rest. As rough as the NFL is, it's amazing that their NFLPA hasn't achieved 100% guarantees. Average career , just over 3 years, 4 years for guys who play more than one season
  15. I would rather see Ryan's slop coming up thwere than Price's ineffective stuff. DD/Cora should consider giving David the 10 day rest as it matters little to the outcome. Weber won't be a winner in MLB but he can help at your Labor Day BBQ
  16. My sincere apologies. Splendid comes up with some great lines in these horrific game threads
  17. Get a 10 year $300 million contract
  18. I believe you are not quite right on this aspersion. Splendid does not need my help , but a Yankee troll ?? Not right. He is one of us, who refuse to accept the truly weak baseball we are seeing from the 2018 WS team . FO and field management . It is crap and could have been seen since ST through today. The cheerleaders are welcome but they don't change the reality of these underperformers
  19. Darwinzon is a real hero. Cannot throw a strike for his life. Another Red Sox pitching graduate no more ready to pitch than Rusney Castillo
  20. I'd rather be at the Red Sox golf tournament than their games. At least i'd see them hit something
  21. Here is the REAL problem. We have Price and Sale and Eovaldi (who may be salvageable) for multiple more years, just like Pedroia. The baggage is heavy and airlines charge for extra bags\
  22. Oh. but Jung, we lead the league in runs scored and we have a Dwar of 99.9......WTF
  23. This is where you let him throw til he pukes. All this with 2 outs. It means in the third inning you have no stuff, no ability and no guts
