  1. Dalbec comes through swinging out of the zone but poking a 2 rbi single to cement the first inning. BTW, where is Hosmer ? Not on injury list. Is he on non-IL rest with a sore back?
  2. Forget Mookie, he is tearing up the NL now. I agree with Splendid that Dugo should be one of the 2023 OF'ers. Kike, not so much. he will cost $8-$9 million for a utility guy.
  3. JD pounds the wall in left. The recovery is underway.
  4. Does the climb back start today ? here's the test indicator-- men on 2nd/3rd, no outs in the first---do they score or not??
  5. Thank you for busting this one out, Bogey. The old Red Sox style
  6. Actually a nice piece of work to regain the lead. Leaving the bullpen in high leverage situations remains a consistent trait, however.
  7. 2nd/3rd, one out, chance to grab the game and blow it open----no chance, 2 consecutive K's. I read an interview with Fatse today that was pitiful. He obviously is not watching the same team. Maybe he is at Worcester more than Boston
  8. When the Sox get a baserunner anywhere in the lineup, is it obligatory for the next batter to strike out, or is it optional ? I'm seeing obligatory
  9. The Sox specialty ; solo shots when they go out, K's with men on base. Probably next year's DH because he'll fit the budget
  10. I apologize for the stream of entries to the thread but am reading all of your comments only well after the game since I went out for dinner and only now followed the detail of yet another failure ( loss)
  11. To Max and many others with all good memories. Yes, having been a sentient fan since the early 1950's , the wait for 2004 and 2007. and 2013. and especially 2018 were interminable . I missed the 1946 loss to the Cardinals since I was born a month later. The disappointments in '67, '75 , '86 , the '78 playoff game, etc, etc, were really awful. The 2021 run over the Yankees and challenge to the Astros gave great encouragement that they were ready yet again. The much more recent WS wins were fantastic and still are. But why is it necessary for this team to be so up one year and in the dumpster the next ? The yo-yo effect is disconcerting and affects my vertigo. This current bunch of non-competitive FO, field management and roster is disheartening. This leads to changes and some are definitely coming.
  12. Let him opt in then and go FA next time around. Good filler material for the yearbook
  13. Not at all, you could see so many signs that despite the success in June, that this team was not well constructed, was injured with no depth , and had an odd--non winning vibe about it. Not to mention weak pitching and an inability to drive in runs from the middle of the lineup. I had no idea there was a major collapse in our future but I knew this wasn't a championship type team. I thought all the FA contracts should have been traded at the deadline, when they were already beginning to slide. I think the problem was, nobody else wanted/need3ed them.
  14. I may be reading the contract info incorrectly, but my interpretation is that it is up to the Sox to exercise Cora's go forward option, not the other way around. It will not surprise me in any way, if the team does not renew Alex Cora. He was given an incompetent roster , then got ruinous injuries along the way , but in the end they did not win. Worse they did not compete except for in the dream month of June. Alex needs to go but not sure if Tek wants the headaches coming with a major turnover in personnel. It may be easier though with a new clubhouse group.
  15. Much agreed on all counts. There is no substance in this bunch to get excited about or interested in
  16. Because that is what the case will be after October 5th anyway, so do it now.
  17. For lack of a tough catch by a AAAA player, the inning was over. This is how teams find ways to lose.
  18. Then there's Chris Sales longgggg durations on the forever IL, now joined by Paxton. That's consistency
  19. So good to see that rbi hit by Devers.
  20. OK, getting ready. Come on up, Trevor
  21. At least for August. He could catch Devers, X and JDM for BA, probably only JDM for OPS. It would have been nice to have that Arroyo on the field all year. Is Story still alive ? I think he is MiLB playing to get back in baseball shape.
  22. Teo Hernandez has a nice throwing arm, but the best story is Dalbec getting a hit through the empty zone to tie the game. Way to go BD
  23. Screw Paxton and his muscle tear . he can go hold hands with Sale , except both of Chris's hands are wrapped up. Now the Sox must decide to pull the option trigger for 2023 or let him go FA again having pissed away a year's salary. Originally due back in July or August ?? My ass.
  24. We often complain that the Red Sox are inconsistent this year. I find them very consistent. Fall behind early 9(1st/2nd inning), then lie low at bat for the next 7 innings, and score one or two to avoid being shutout, still losing
  25. Couldn't move him one inch forward, 4 under .500, lose another series to the AL East, on and on and on, same story different day
