  1. In the land of the blind (RSN), the one eyed man is the DH. The fat man plays 3B
  2. I will go on record early saying that if Story or Sale go back on the IL with an injury before Oct 1, then that individual will not make the RS HoF.
  3. I do not think anyone is looking for or expecting Cedanne to come over and be the solution to a problem . If he gets a Sept call-up then good for him, but not even counting on that. Might have been different if Verdugo had been traded, but that didn't happen. Hope I don't have to eat my words but moving Chang, with Story back, was not a hard choice. Sale's return won't either with the back end of the pen guys. Llovera has shown nothing so far.
  4. I think Turner's heel was definitely bothering him as you follow his runouts to 1B after a grounder. Of all the studs on this team, Justin definitely deserves a couple days off to let it heal.
  5. For the last 18 months, the FO has not made a lot of sense , just a small amount occasionally
  6. What's the likelihood that Story will catch heaps of abuse if he doesn't hit right away ? I would think we may see a replay of Duvall coming off his wrist injury . What looks like a strong lineup , based on career stats , is not performing as well as it should. The overall group is in a 10 game swoon with the bats, still shaky on defense , with a roulette wheel in the BP . The 6 runs last night won the game but was a total fluke outcome. More like a 3-2 game. But a win is a win, so maybe it lights them up for a run against lesser opponents.
  7. Verdugo has already impaired his trade value and Bloom would get next to nothing for an unreliable, streaky attitude player. He will not get an extended contract. How do you get anything for him, except in a bigger package ? He won't be younger or more skilled than his Large Sample Size shows. He needs to play his way back into a plus OF'er/hitter , if he can. Refsnyder is a decent #4 Of'er , bench Ph'er vs LHP , day off sub. He is under contract for 2024. Duvall is not hitting well , maybe lost strength in his wrist this year. He will not be re-upped for 2024. I prefer Turner at DH for the rest of this year, which puts Yoshi in LF. IMO, you have to let Duran continue to work on his game against both LHP and RHP if you are going to realize his potential ( or lack thereof ) So the answer to the question is that for the next 50 games should be Dugo, Yoshi, Duran as the primary starters . Also note that Cedanne Rafaela may get a look in September, and be a factor in 2024 ST.
  8. More likely Kike, then sign him to a 3 year, $36 million deal
  9. Pablo Reyes wins it off the pole
  10. About time for a walkoff winner, who has it tonight?
  11. Is this now 9 or the 10th game with 3 runs or less except for a 6 spot, and a 4 runner in a losing game . Bello rarely gets rewarded with run or BP support
  12. Recency bias, as in last inning, the only one that actually mattered. Could not put away Garcia after 2 strikes . Then a long shot to CF, even the 3rd out was hard hit.
  13. Winckowski has numbers but not a lot of ahutdown.
  14. Let's just say the Sox BP can get the 3rd out , here and the 8th. Do you use Jansen tonight, since that will burn him for the next game? Answer: Yes, you better win this one for many reasons. Can't play tomorrow's game tonight
  15. Bello shows the athleticism of a young player to get the out
  16. Reminds me so much of Renfroe, who is flopping hard for the hapless LAA.
  17. So does Bello at 81 pitches and a shutout, come out for the 7th , or do we see what Lamet hasn't got ?
  18. Either another DP or big trouble coming for Bello
  19. Chang cannot hit, Reyes can, decision points indicate a Pablo pick
  20. It's not just the actual ruled errors, it's as much the plays not made that create runners and extra bases.
  21. Amen, it's a multi-year effort. Fumble f***ing groundballs is also a trend
  22. Joe D did give me a quietly asked for autograph on my business card in a Miami restaurant . I saw him in a Ft. Lauderdale Yankee clubhouse once where most people deferred to him.
  23. DiMaggio's hitting streak and many other honored achievements do not hold up to William's numbers, but Joe D had the NY and national press on his side and Ted flipped them off. I like Ted
  24. All part of building organizational depth with guys who will unlikely pitch again anywhere, right??
  25. One caution about the August returnees is Tanner Houck. I would not expect any great results from him as he regains his confidence on the mound. Head injuries are strange incidents aside from the physical pain and lingering effects of concussive events. If Tanner can regain his effectiveness for 18 outs, it will be a win for him and the Red Sox , but no expectations .
