  1. The old line, "If I wanted to watched trained seals put a ball in a basket, I'd go to Seaworld"
  2. Bernie not real sharp tonight. But Pivetta left them with a 4-0 deficit and a bullpen burner of a game, so that's on Nick. Kelly walking the leadoff in the 7th with a 8-4 lead wasn't brilliant either.
  3. I appreciate Duran's excitement and willingness to take chances but that may not have been the best idea of the night. Surely hope we don't wind up needing one run more
  4. Ok, nothing short of an amazing comeback and Hamilton provides more. Incredible.
  5. It will be up to Houck to see if the Sox will be 1-5 or 0-6 on this homestand.. Key hits ( clutch) may not be a repeatable skill but it seems that winning teams score when they have the opportunity and losing teams rollover or K
  6. Pivetta with almost nothing tonight . On offense we have a bunch of At'em ball hitters
  7. Second run scores on a ground ball out. Game over
  8. Nice effort by Dalbec to get the first run in. Game almost over. 3 up, 3 not out
  9. Let's see if the Phillies can score guys from 2nd/3rd with no outs, and get this game over quickly.
  10. Nearing mid-June, the Sox are playing Dalbec and Westbrook as part of their starting infield . SMH
  11. So Dom Smith admits he shortarmed the not great throw from Valdez to avoid getting his arm injured by the runner. Must have been out of concern for the team as a whole. Nice guts, Dom, you suck and will be the next DFA after Casas returns, unless Dalbec beats you to it. But there are many who thought they would outlive Big Cat Bobby and are currently unemployed.
  12. Not signing Bogaerts to a 5-10 year deal was smart , not trading him for some value was stupid. Sort of like what the Angels did with Ohtani. Take the heat, what are the fans going to do about it.
  13. Just think if Dalbec had started , he would have K'ed 4 times, but the score might be 2-1 where a Devers solo shot would tie it up. I might be dreaming too much
  14. What number is Miller ? Or did you mean Mueller, who got it done when needed
  15. For a player who may be around for a good while, Rafaela has some real issues with the bat too. He has time to get better but somebody has to get through to him, and he needs to work it. Not thrilled with the money came real early to him or Bello
  16. Remember when the Red Sox used to average over 40,000....Wait for it....... on the road
  17. Sox had 2 hits after first two hitters ( Duran/Hamilton) , then were 1 hit over next 6 innings. When Cora goes to Westbrook and Dalbec in the 8th to face Strahm, he is doing two things: Getting the RH/LH matchup, and sending a smoke signal to Breslow ( formerly Bloom)
  18. Who needs Raffy's bat ? He has the hot glove and BULLETIN---Dom Smith's catch to drop ratio (fFU+) is increasing with each putout. Good guy that Dom.
  19. I'd be pleased if Tanner can just make 31-32 starts without IL time, maybe taper down late season on innings. Meanwhile Sox on the way to dropping their 8th straight when Crawford starts. This one is not so much on him as previous ones. He never did blow up even after his 1Bman screwed him
  20. Wheeler , who has a very low BB rate, is going against a team of batters whose strategy on 3-2 counts is to try and fake the umpire into a walk, instead of hacking the ball. Where do they learn this ? They didn't get to MLB by being shy.
  21. An optimist would say that if it weren't for Schwarb's 2 bombs and Smith's error the Sox would be leading the Phillies , 1-0 with a great effort by Crawford. OTOH, a pessimist is rarely disappointed
  22. This homestand has a high likelihood of being a 1-5 outcome, with entry to last place AL East , door wide open.
  23. Even when Smith makes a nice play he almost throws it away or gets crawford killed on the toss. PoS
  24. I would cut Smith when Casas comes back and keep Red Sox lifer, Bobby Dalbec, just because people like him.
  25. There was a reasonable probability that Duran should have caught the liner to LF. Tough catch but he took an odd route to it. Balls to left, move to the left ( right from the fielder's side)
