  1. I predict that Keller will be with the Sox all year, like Whitlock was. Spot starter and long reliever. They didn't draft him for nothing.
  2. The Red Sox selected 2 pitchers in the Rule 5 draft and they both look like they might be able to stick. Austin Lambright and Brian Keller. Keep an eye on them.
  3. Its going to be a boring few months of baseball if the lock out continues. No one can do anything during the lock out so there won't be any information coming out.
  4. Plus two good bullpen guys and another bat.
  5. Is it April 1st? The Sox traded a 30 homer guy for a guy who can't hit water if he falls out of the boat. And who makes 2 million more a year. Those minor leaguers better be really good.
  6. Greinke could not handle playing in Boston. He has high anxiety playing for small market teams or in laid back California. No way he is on their list.
  7. Per WEEI: Just look at the game log for Wacha throughout 2021 and you will find what he was talking about. In the righty's last seven regular season appearances (6 of which were starts), he 2.88 ERA and .167 batting average against. The difference? Well, go back to April and you would have found a pitcher who threw his cutter 150 times (his most prevalent pitch) while offering just 15 curveballs. In September, the cutter was used a total of 10 times with Wacha breaking out his bender for 49 pitches. Let's hope the Sox get the 2.88 ERA Wacha. That would help the rotation.
  8. Wacha has a 5.05 ERA last year and gets a 4 million dollar raise from 3 million to 7 million. What a country!
  9. Hope we get 2013 Michael Wacha!
  10. They couldn't re-sign Andriese so they went for Wacha.
  11. Totally agree on strengthening the bullpen. A lights out bullpen wins a lot of games.
  12. The odds of getting anything from Rule 5 like Whitlock are about a 1000 to 1.
  13. My post was tongue in cheek but I guess you didn't see the humor in it.
  14. Per MLB Trade Rumors: Before he signed a two-year, $50MM deal to return to the Astros, the Yankees made a decent push to sign veteran righty Justin Verlander. The Yankees offered Verlander $25MM for 2022, but they did not offer a second season, per Jon Heyman of the MLB Network (via Twitter). Verlander ultimately got $25MM a year for two years with an opt-out from the Astros. Guess Verlander wanted to stay with a winning organization rather than go to the Yankees.

  16. I agree but he asked me to name names so I named two guys that are a lot (17 million a year) cheaper than E-Rod and better than him, which they both are. One of them can replace him and one can stay in the pen. The Sox can sign two or three good players with the money they will save or just give most of it to Schwarber. E-Rod will not be missed.
  17. Garrett Whitlock and Tanner Houck for two.
  18. This is a very good contract for E-Rod. He can opt out after two seasons. He gets 77 million to 80 million if he stays for the 5 years. Good for him. He won a WS championship with the Red Sox. He pitched in meaningful late season games and post-season games. Hopefully, he will remember those times because he is not going to see the playoffs with the Tigers. He took the most money over the chance to win. That is his choice. Good luck E-Rod. Thank you for your contributions to the Red Sox. You can be replaced with a cheaper, better pitcher.
  19. A) He isn't leaving Atlanta He wouldn't hit many homers to RF in Boston C) Boston doesn't need a first baseman on a long contract D) Atlanta won't let him leave. They will match any offer. E) Atlanta just won the WS! Forget about it!
  20. Ascheats offering Correa 5/160 is like the Sox offering Lester 5/70. He gone!
  21. I wouldn't give a bag of balls for any of those bums.
  22. JBJ is highly overpaid. Not surprised he exercised his player option. No way he gets more than 2 million a year on the open market. He can't hit!!!!
  23. R.I.P. RemDawg. I always enjoyed Jerry's insights on Red Sox broadcasts. He and Eck together were a joy to listen to. Jerry will be missed greatly by all Red Sox fans.
  24. PETA wants MLB to get rid of the term bullpen and change it to arm barn. Just when you think these people can't get any dumber, they come up with this. LOL! Who will the Sox have in their arm barn next season?
