  1. The little guys always pay the price for the elites decisions.
  2. They are making a mistake by not getting a federal mediator. Both sides should be locked in a room with the mediator until a deal is reached. This is getting ridiculous. They are playing a game of chicken and the fans are the losers.
  3. One of the best trades, if not the best, in Red Sox history.
  4. The NBA is a crap league where stars totally control where they play. MLB does not need to copy anything from the NBA. The NBA has low ratings for a reason. The product stinks.
  5. I totally agree. People who have gone two years making sacrifices see billionaires and multi-millionaires fighting over money. They will definitely lose fans.
  6. Mazz sucks. Shaughnessy is a total jerk. I would never listen to them. It won't happen.
  7. Red Sox sign Tyler Danish!!!! Whoooooooopeeeeee!!!!
  8. Although 2018 team was great, and 2007 and 2013 teams were also very good, the 2004 team will go down as the best team in Red Sox history not only for the talent on the team but for how they ended the curse.
  9. Its hard to assess anything with the lockout. There is a lot of time to do things once it ends. The outfield as of now isn't necessarily what its going to be on opening day.
  10. Being around for since the 40s and having a circulation of over 2 million doesn't mean anything. Look at all the big city papers like the NY Times and Washington Post. I don't believe anything they write no matter how long they have been in existence and no matter what their circulation is.
  11. I trust Yahoo Japan's rumor a lot more than Peter Gammons talking to anonymous GMs.
  12. Jan. 27: The consensus among general managers to whom Peter Gammons of The Athletic has spoken is that the Giants are perhaps the favorites to sign Suzuki (Twitter link). Again, it seems difficult to proclaim any concrete favorite when Suzuki has not yet traveled to the U.S. and is still planning multiple in-person meetings, but that bit of informed speculation is nevertheless of some note. This is per MLB Trade Rumors. I hope the report from Yahoo Japan is more accurate but a west coast team like SF or Seattle makes sense. Ichiro loved Seattle.
  13. A report from Yahoo Japan states the Red Sox are the favorites to land Seiya Suzuki, and "multiple officials" expect the Japanese outfielder to sign his contract with Boston shortly after the league resumes. This would be awesome!
  14. I would add Hidecki Okajima to that list. Very valuable pitcher for five seasons, including 2007 WS team.
  15. I agree with that.
  16. Sox wasted 72 million on Rusney Castillo when, for a few million less the year before, they could have signed Jose Abreu. A big mistake by Ben Cherrington and staff.
  17. His voting privileges should be revoked. Jeff Kent??? Are you kidding me. He can't vote for one of the most beloved athletes in Boston history? Based upon what? His conjecture? Shaughnessy has always been a dick, and always will be a dick. I don't know why any Boston sports fan reads any of his trash. He is as bad as Tomase and Reimer.
  18. Dan Shaughnessy didn't vote for Big Papi for the Hall Of Fame. What a dick! I hate that guy. He hates all Boston teams and does whatever he can to write negative articles about the players, teams and owners.
  19. I can afford to buy a lot of things but I can't justify them. The Sox couldn't justify paying Mookie 350 million. I don't blame them.
  20. i use to save all of my Sporting News. Those were awesome. The material in them was far reaching covering major and minor leagues. There is nothing like that today.
  21. Sox should try to trade JBJ for Kimbrel. One bad contract for another but Kimbrel could help the bullpen. Money is about equal.
  22. By Rob Bradford This day - when teams can officially start signing international prospects - sometimes goes under the radar. But considering it usually spawns some of Major League Baseball's biggest stars, it shouldn't. It's why news of the Red Sox maneuvering on Day 1 of the signing period should be of some note. According to MLB.com, the Sox have agreed to terms with two of the top shortstop prospects in the international class, allocating significant signing bonuses for Freili Encarnacion ($1.2 million) and Fraymi De Leon ($1.1 million), both of who hail from the Dominican Republic. Per WEEI: The Sox also reportedly have come to terms with highly-regarded Venezuelan catcher Johanfran Garcia (approximately $650,000). Lets hope they all pan out and become major leaguers.
  23. I doubt it. Japanese baseball is a step below the major leagues but its still pretty good. Andriese sucks no matter where he is pitching.
  24. That could change when they see him pitch.
