  1. Just watched former SOX alumnus Daniel Bard successfully get his 15th save for a bad Rockies' team. Glad to see he's recovered from that failed experiment with the SOX. Bard was the SOX top pick in the 2006 draft and #28 overall. Signed as a reliever who could top 100mph and was quite successful until someone higher up thought he'd make a good starter. That failed miserably in 2012 and Bard completely lost the strike zone. His last year with the SOX was 2013. He was signed by the Rockies in 2020.
  2. In regards to timely hitting, which I believe the Rays lead MLB in, Austin Meadows is batting only .240, but has 65 RBI.
  3. The O's playing in Camden Yards is similar to putting lipstick on a pig.
  4. The O's have 3 things going for them; Mountcastle(probably top choice for ROY), Mullins(wasted season with this clown show), and Mancini. The Rays with 29 come from behind wins, including today, are tied with the SOX. Rays' reliever, McHugh, may be best in the AL. Btw, if Mountcastle(complete opposite of Bobby Dee) played for the SOX or the Yankems, every baseball fan in America would have heard of him. This kid is going to be special; too bad he's stuck in Baltimore.
  5. Bad news for the SOX. Ray is now the Jays' best pitcher.
  6. I'm wondering if the terrible O's 2nd baseman was paid by the Rays to run over the 1st baseman just as he was prepared to catch the ball in the bottom of the 9th. Ironic that the most ugly team in baseball(for a long time), the O's, plays their home games in, perhaps, the most beautiful ballpark in MLB. In a fairer world, the O's s/b playing in the Tropicana Mausoleum and the Rays s/b playing in Camden Yards.
  7. Rain and thunderstorm warnings in Buffalo and surrounding areas. It's pouring right now in central NY.
  8. Another Twilight Zone moment was the batter on the Cardinals who made the final out in the 2004 WS was wearing #3.
  9. Good observation, Moon. Personally, I would love to see ?-BOS WS. IOW, I don't care who they play. The SOX WS record since 2004 is 16-3. Bring 'em on.
  10. Btw, after the final out was made in the 2004 WS, there's that great picture of the backs of Damon and Kapler standing next to each other in the outfield and forming the year 1918. How Twilight Zone was that?
  11. Watching the Giants/Dodgers game. Interesting that these two teams fighting it out in the NL West are each managed by former players of the SOX 2004 championship season, Kapler and Roberts.
  12. That would definitely be a great offer, but like iortiz posted, the Angels would seriously be in the bidding.Hell, they're so desperate, they might offer him 4 or 5 years.
  13. Speaking of 'older' pitchers; at what age did Nolan get 'old?' Again, there is a similar history between Nolan and Scherzer.
  14. Moon, would you agree to a 3 year contract and, if so, how much would you sign him for?
  15. Well, Tyler, you could set up a GOFUNDME platform.
  16. A more realistic approach would be to hope that Sale can contribute more than anyone would expect. So far, he appears to be way ahead of schedule.
  17. Another team not in the AL East who may seriously go after Scherzer is the Astros.
  18. Scherzer, like Nolan Ryan, appears to have a rubber arm. I could definitely picture some team offering him 3 years. But it won't be the SOX.
  19. Good point. Again, like the Yankems, it may depend where they are at the end of July. Obviously, tonight didn't help them.
