  1. Speaking of beer, back in the 90's Australian beer maker FOSTERS put out some of the funniest commercials in TV history. They would show a scene and then there would be a caption underneath explaining it. It was called 'speaking Australian.' The funniest one I can remember is there's what appears to be a kangaroo in the Australian outback and nothing else. After a few seconds the kangaroo removes his head and there's this guy inside. The caption read "witness protection program."
  2. During their previous homestand the Pirates did a 3 game sweep of a very good Brewers team. As bad as the Pirates appear they do average more than 1 win in every 3 games they play. So there's that.
  3. If you're referring to players on the IL, such as Sale and Story, then yes, they are part of the total payroll who aren't playing, but when you use the term 'unproductive,' it's a hell of lot more than $63 million.
  4. And when a Rays' player does establish a name, the Rays trade him for more 'no names.'
  5. The SOX 2022 total payroll is 208 million. The Pirates total payroll is 66 million, so one could argue that the Pirates are getting more 'bang for the buck.'
  6. Clint Eastwood portrayed a 'man with no name' and kicked some serious ass.
  7. The SOX aren't built like a broom, so they're really not a 'sweeping' team. They're more or less modeled after a Hoover, so they're more closely related to a 'sucking' team.
  8. Doesn't really matter; Cora will keep unproductive JD at DH, even after Story returns. Arroyo will return to utility role. Sad, but most likely, true.
  9. The Dugo and Arroyo show offensively tonight. Dugo scores 5 runs and Arroyo has 3 RBI.
  10. Only because DH comes after his name. DH includes 'Hitter.'
  11. No way Cora can leave Arroyo's bat out of the line-up when Story returns. It's too bad Arroyo can't play CF.
  12. Just responding to the post that Casas would platoon with Hosmer. I agree, there's no rush. However, the SOX are in need of a DH.
  13. With JD gone next season and most likely Bogey, there's no excuse for the SOX FO not to be very aggressive in going after Trey Turner this off season.
  14. Hosmer and Casas are both LH batters.
  15. Based on won/lost records, the Pirates are only the 4th worst team in MLB.
  16. When Story returns, is it at all possible that Arroyo becomes the DH? I doubt it, knowing Cora, but I wish it would happen.
  17. Can't wait to read JD's book on baseball titled HOW NOT TO PERFORM DURING A CONTRACT YEAR.
  18. Dugo has the SOX highest BA since May 1st. I would not be surprised if he finishes the season with the SOX highest BA.
  19. Last night the SOX offense proved they can score runs off of an injured pitcher. The starter for the Pirates tonight doesn't appear to be injured, so it will probably be more difficult for the SOX offense? to score.
  20. The 'machine' broke down in KC today, but nothing some routine maintenance can't fix.
  21. Well, that's an official series win. Would be most excellent if Aaron Judge transformed into Judge Judy the rest of the way.
  22. Just saw Wally in the stands. Good to know he wasn't traded.
