Speaking of beer, back in the 90's Australian beer maker FOSTERS put out some of the funniest commercials in TV history. They would show a scene and then there would be a caption underneath explaining it. It was called 'speaking Australian.' The funniest one I can remember is there's what appears to be a kangaroo in the Australian outback and nothing else. After a few seconds the kangaroo removes his head and there's this guy inside. The caption read "witness protection program."
During their previous homestand the Pirates did a 3 game sweep of a very good Brewers team.
As bad as the Pirates appear they do average more than 1 win in every 3 games they play. So there's that.
If you're referring to players on the IL, such as Sale and Story, then yes, they are part of the total payroll who aren't playing, but when you use the term 'unproductive,' it's a hell of lot more than $63 million.
The SOX 2022 total payroll is 208 million. The Pirates total payroll is 66 million, so one could argue that the Pirates are getting more 'bang for the buck.'
The SOX aren't built like a broom, so they're really not a 'sweeping' team. They're more or less modeled after a Hoover, so they're more closely related to a 'sucking' team.
Last night the SOX offense proved they can score runs off of an injured pitcher. The starter for the Pirates tonight doesn't appear to be injured, so it will probably be more difficult for the SOX offense? to score.
