The benefit of keeping Bogey and Devers is they've already proven they can play at a high-level in Boston. Replacing Bogey to save a few million dollars is a big risk, which we all know backfires too much here.
True. And if the SOX do re-sign Bogey, I believe they have enough current offense where there should be no need to go out and sign a replacement DH. So there's extra money to be used on pitching.
I disagree. Story drives in runs. The biggest impediment is Sale's contract. But, again, not having Price's retained salary next season does give the SOX FO 16 mil to play with.
However, the SOX will not have at least 16 mil in retained salaries nest season. So that would in effect increase the SOX total PR by @17 mil next season.
When one looks at the Rangers' won/lost record and then notices how good their offense is, they're a perfect example that pitching is a lot more than just 50% of the game.
One major way to improve a BP is for starters to go more than 5 innings more often. This was a numerous fault of the SOX this season. And, yes, injuries had a lot to do with that.
