  1. He didn't ask for any money? Must have been one of Joe's better days.
  2. Just knowing 30% is pretty impressive.
  3. Manny holds the world record for most dead grandmothers. Francona: "Manny, the team is going to the White House." Manny: "I can't go. My grandmother just died." I'd heard that Manny employed the 'dead grandmother' excuse at least 4 times during his time with the SOX.
  4. The baseball books I've read pretty much paint Joe D as an *******. One of his rules was that for him to agree to show up at a Yankems' old timer's day, he would need to be paid $10,000 and he would have to be announced last. Ted may have not been a great family man, but as a human being he was heads and shoulders over DiMaggio.
  5. Ted's the reason I became a SOX fan.
  6. Btw, the longest on base streak by base hit or walk since 1949 is 63 games, which was accomplished by ex-SOX Orlando Cabrera in 2006.
  7. Watching youtube earlier and discovered that Teddy Ballgame in 1949 reached base by base hit or walk in 84 straight games, which is a record that is rarely brought up. In 1941 Teddy reached base by base hit or walk in 73 straight games, which is the 2nd longest streak. William's lifetime OBP was .482.
  8. I'm guessing Jock will be next on the DFA bus.
  9. I think I see Bloom's pattern here. He DFA's a reliever and then picks up another team's DFA'd reliever.
  10. Based on the number of relievers that Boston has DFA'd, most of them should room at the Y.
  11. I don't know this as a fact, but I wouldn't be surprised if the SOX have DFA'd more relief pitchers over the last 2 seasons than any other MLB team.
  12. Over 11? Sounds about right. Lament over Lamet.
  13. He's another strong case for expansion.
  14. The Jays should be saving these runs for their next game. When they had 4 runs, that was more than enough.
  15. Llovera just reminded me that Goodwill does not accept returns.
  16. Keeps himself in shape with mound visits.
  17. I'm going by the posts that were presented here during his time with the SOX.
  18. That play in CF wasn't easy. JBJ probably would have caught it. Funny how everybody's now concerned about good defense and with JBJ the SOX had one of the top defensive CF's and yet he was still disliked. Can't win to lose.
  19. In the words of Yogi Berra "It ain't over in Boston; it's ovah."
  20. The trouble with picking up items at Goodwill is the product in a lot of cases will perform well for a little while and then will malfunction.
  21. Bogey specifically told Bloom not to trade him.
  22. The SOX run more rehab than a detox clinic.
  23. Reading comprehension issues? I was referring only to last year's trade deadline.
  24. In the case of JD, there was a league wide lack of interest.
