In a 1974 13 innings game Nolan Ryan threw 235 pitches against the Red Sox. He struck out 19.

Since the pinch count began, I do remember a Sox starter going 9 with, I believe, 93 pitches. Unfortunately, I don't remember his name.

I'm not sure there's a top and bottom to the Sox lineup. It's a crap shoot lineup where anyone can provide the big hit. Except maybe Wong.
