Interestingly, the night the Sox were rained out against the Yankems I flipped over to the Cleveland/Texas game and watched the Guardians abuse Jack Leiter.
In 1962 Roger Craig won 20 games for a Mets' team that lost 120 games. Roger also lost 24 games that same season. 20-24, think about that when you see how pitchers are treated today.
Here's an interesting baseball fact. From what I could find only 7 pitchers in MLB history have won 20 or more games on teams that lost 90 or more games. The most amazing was in 1972 when Steve Carlton won 27 games for a Phillies' team that went 57-97. Steve finished the season 27-10 with a 1.97ERA.
Another fine job by Sonny tonight. If he gets the win, he'll be tied for 2nd in MLB with 8 wins. There's a 3 way tie for 1st with 9 wins.
8 wins on this team at this point in the season is amazing.
Why the concern when Crochet returns? This team is going nowhere with or without him. Hell, give him the rest of the season off. He won't be the first starter the Sox have paid for missing most of the season.
