  1. Totally misread the schedule. Got here just in time to see that bonehead DP. LUCKY
  2. LOL :0 LET's thank God that we didn't have to ensure Price opting out. We all would have expected that.
  3. With everything I've ever tried, Extra Innings is the best. For years, the only one who carried it was Direct TV. Finally Dosh got it, so I switched. Only $89 for the short season, and there are very few games for any team you miss. Think about simply going to one game with 4 people. You will drop about $400.
  4. A very nice start. Looked like the old RS, working the count, & putting young guns behind in the count. Lot of RS looked like veterans. LOVE to see Pillar jump right on his chance. Eovaldi looked great! JBJ clearly hits .385 this year. So glad I got Extra Innings yesterday. Had to watch it late, but well worth it!
  5. David Price finally saves the Sox money! LOL :0 By not playing. Who didn't see this coming.
  6. I would debate you, but then it would invariably end badly for me, where I was once again taken to the corporate Talksox woodshed. Restraining orders issued, and sent out on a Bloomberg apology tour... Best I issue peremptory mea culpas, self-flaggelate, and beg forgiveness for my transgressions...
  7. The downfall of your game relying on straight dirtdogism? Pedey. First time I saw him, I told my wife that I LOVED his hustle & dirtdog ethic, but that he was not long for the game. You simply CAN'T sell out your body on every play, and swing from your arss on every pitch, and expect to have a long career. Sadly.... I was dead right. Saddest thing? His career was ended by a douche he stuck up for! WTF? Still dont get that... BUT, I admire his effort to play it off as nothing big. I guess?
  8. For the record.... JBJ is an absolute dirtdog! LOL :0 The big reason Trot & Pedey are considered MAJOR league dirtdog, is because they were both so slow, they HAD TO DIVE for almost everything to make a play. LOL :0 JBJ... Makes long runs look easy. Impossible catches look routine. Still.... NEVER SEEN a RS Center fielder's face, shoulders, etc. So familiar with that wall. Also, I hear he eats that warning track Dirk for breakfast! I really hope we don't let this guy go! Straight up BALLS TO THE WALL! BEST RS CF'r of any generation! dirtdog!
  9. Now that's what I'm talking about! "Old school." Good clean baseball. Nothin but a love of the game.
  10. ok.... The "bloating" issue solves the in game belt-buckle question about Panda. Sure! We knew he was buying bigger belts well before that, but.... :0 LOL Now.... as for your claims of "seeing the stitches on the ball?" Any chance, like Pablo again, you just 'thought' you were seeing the stitches? Is this anecdotal, or did you have baseball hitting stats that confirmed that you hit better?
  11. I have reached out to both Panda and HanRam to see what it was like for them? I'm fairly certain they would say that it depends on the day? Some $h!+ they were smoking had them locked in, but by and large, they were pretty mushy at the end. JUST A GUESS.... but the big problem for these 2 was being "WASTED OFF THEIR AR$$ES" while injured at the end of 2015, and becoming a huge distraction that particular disaster year? It's been a while, but I recall making the accusation all through 2015, that both often looked wasted. Do I have an evidence? NOPE! and i was roundly criticized for saying so at the time. Maybe fairly criticized, considering the fact that I had no evidence. HOWEVER .... For anybody who has ever played a high focus and high detail game like baseball, playing stoned would never be a great idea. Hitting, like putting, would be 'hit & miss." You might get lucky & lock on to a fastball, but feeling the breaking ball would be tough at best. Fielding a spot like 3rd base would be next to impossible. Both guys, TO ME and perhaps me alone, looked and acted high a good deal if 2015. NOT JUST ON THE FIELD. The "goofing" on the bench, and all through the dugout looked off the charts. Close ups looked to me showed WASTED eyes. No idea if I'm right to this day, but I'd put an easy $1,000 with anybody willing to make the bet. Kind of a mute point, as it is highly unlikely that it would ever come out. Bottom line? For any kid trying to make it in mlb, it would be about the worst move possible. Surfing the internet in your basement and eating cheetos? Oh yeh! Solid move!
  12. I'm impressed with the kid's future! https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2020/02/jarren-duran-in-boston-red-sox-2021-starting-outfield-speedy-prospect-who-runs-wild-has-come-long-way-since-being-5-4-hs-freshman.html
  13. Does this mean JBJ is gone?
  14. I guess all it comes down to is.... There is absolutely NOW WAY to feel good about this! Ironically, JH mentions Nomar & Jacoby? BOTH were injury plagued, & BOTH had worn out their welcome with the hard core Sox fans. Mookie? His acknowledgement that we are talking about a Stan the Man, Demagio, Ted William's, Yaz, et al, was just more salt in the wound. YES! I fully realize I've see-sawed back & forth, at one time trying to rationalize a tough business decision, & now days later bemoaning a devastating loss.... It is what it is. Wish I felt better about the pick ups, but i just don't.
  15. I agree with all that. I guess it was just the acknowledgement of just how BIG & HISTORIC a move this was, combined with my feeling that we got very little in the trade. It wasn't anything I didn't know, just a further hollowing of the rational. When it comes down to it, I'm HIGHLY DOUBTFUL the guys we got net us hardly anything. Sure! We clear up salary space, and can now afford 2 front line guys for 1. I get that. I just think... what the hell?? We could do that at the end of the season, and enjoy Mookie for another year. I'm happy to be rid of Price, but that does leave us with 2 huge holes to fill this year. When our SR is already in serious trouble, & quite likely plagued by injury already. I have little confidence in any of the pickups. Vergugo looks like a run of the mill guy, easily picked up next year for the money? Hell, idk? Can't even really explain why I felt so s***** after the statement? It was well stated, but I felt it could have been left unsaid.
  16. Don't know why, but somehow this statement made it worse for me.
  17. https://www.facebook.com/39399781765/posts/10156856109836766/
  18. Actually wasn't referring to you at all! I respect your perspectives, & always have. LOL :0 Granted, it was a total throwaway line.... it just felt right with the totality of the discussion. An obligatory swipe at the generation that can school us on many a thing.... Again, LOL :0 I just enjoy triggering them because they're so much god dambed smarter. Anyway.... All my other points stand! Not because I'm smart, I'm just almost always right.
  19. Oh, & as for JH "misleading" fans? Come on now. We're not children. THEY ALL HAVE TO say those things! You can't ever say, "yeh! We're definitely dealing our superstar, and WILL go with the best offer." The business simply doesn't work that way, and for good reason. It's a bad position to throw away your bargaining leverage to SAY, "Truth is, WE MUST DEAL our superstar to gain long term flexibility! We HAVE TO do this, so just give us the best you can afford." Can we cut the s*** please! What the F kind of bargaining position does that get you, when you broadcast that you are bargaining from a hole, & you WILL BREAK at some point? Are you F'n kidding me? So please! Let's stop with the, "I'm hurt because JH lied to me" millenial nonsense!
  20. Can we just get real here. Yes! As a businessman in the sports / entertainment business, JH has to put out the best team possible, and TRY to win a WSC. However, some here are talking as though they actually believe THIS RS season exists in a vacuum. There have been no FOOLISH LT mega-contracts putting us in a hole (I wont list them all, as you all know them better than me). JH bought a few championships, but the last in 2018 cost the most, short & LOOOONG term. GOOD ON HIM for the 1st 3! EPIC! We will remember this era for the rest of our lives. Still, as a businessman, he realizes that for the good of the long term business, contracts must be cleared & the farm MUST BE replanted. This ain't rocket science! Now.... He's still in sports entertainment BUSINESS, and the SHOW must go on. They don't owe us s***. They put out the best product POSSIBLE, given industry regulations, caps, and a closed & severely regulated hiring pool. They reached their break-even point, and HAD TO re-tool. Thank God they haven't considered moving us to Pennsylvania, or some lower tax state? Hey! I HATE this trade! I HATE that we are letting perhaps our GREATEST PLAYER ever walk. BUT, this year's RS team has been forced into some exceptionally tough decisions because of the last 10 years of HORRIFIC long term deals. Ironically, I think Mookie is the safest long term contract out there, & with future value of $380M - $400M would have been ok. Anyway, Bottom line! JH is not operating in a vacuum! He owes fans a good - great product, or so many will vote with their feet. You can't have the #1 broadway show every year, EVEN IF you could buy all the best musical theater talent available, year after year, with no binding non-competition contracts. They have a business to run, & they are digging the RS out of 2 spendthrift GM's who signed bad LT contract after LT contract. NOW... the piper must be paid. Unfortunately..... Mookie is the sacrificial lamb.... THE ONLY ONE LEFT to bring some sort of ROI. I think they blew it, but I get the effort. btw..... The Red Sox WILL re-sign Mookie next off-season
  21. WTF? I hope this is not how the year goes???
  22. Jesus! https://www.facebook.com/100000171549905/posts/3234034636612223/
  23. Ahhh. Right. Forgot to mention what an embarrassment the unloading of Price in this trade is. Yeh. We "unload the Price contract, NOT, as we GET TO pay for 1/2 of his contract for the privilege of "dumping" the contract. This is an absolutely AWEFUL reality. THIS is how badly the Sox wanted him gone? Just pathetic, and a stain on this "deal." To me, it undercuts the incredible value of Mookie. It's an insult that bloom is such a poor negotiator that he had to pay to dump Price while dealing the #1 or #2 position player in the league. He got TAKEN on this part if the deal. DP is a lot of things, and I never liked having him in Boston, but now WE PAY 1/2 of his salary to give another team a once #1/#2 starting pitcher, who can still deliver, to a major contending team whom the Sox are already dealing one of the 2 best outfielders in MLB history? Just pathetic! I'm not impressed with this part of the negotiation!
