  1. WOE! Let's put the breaks on that type of irrational exuberance! That's the type of over your skis investing that almost brought this country to its knees in 07! Check yourself there laddy!
  2. Really liking Vaz!
  3. Devers didn't get the out, but that was some excellent glove. TOUGH play at first after the all out dive.
  4. Let's be LUCKY, rather than good, the rest of this season.
  5. HOLY CRAP! MY BAD, & I am truly sorry!! That last part with Hitler and Stalin.... i thought I added that to a post on anything goes! I swear to god!!!! I hope you can see that it was a total nonsequitur to the rest of that post. It totally went along with an ANTIFA post on the "Anything Goes" thread. s***! Honest to God! I am truly sorry for this! I was dead serious about respecting what Thunder said on keeping the politics out of this thread. My sincerest apologies! Especially to Thunder, but to all. I added those last to lines to a post to Moon kate last night. When I checked it, I was like, "where the f*** did that go?" I thought I must have accidentally deleted it, so I said WTF & went to sleep. MY BAD! Honestly sorry to all!
  6. Yeh, I honestly didn't even take his comment as provoking me. There was a comment about keeping mlb YOUNG MEN vigilant in social distancing, directly connected to the mlb outbreaks.... I TOTALLY GET why Thunder has become disgusted with the politics, so I understand why is sensitive to anything remotely political. Interesting segue .... We just found out today that our school will ONLY open with distance learning. THIS is killing kids .. ... Imagine all the Fall sports that will be cancelled ..... Imagine if you are a senior, borderline on making the cut for college football? Soccer? I'm afraid that feelings are going to rule the day in college sports? That is what ruled the day on our school, in a county with ZERO Covid Deaths. It certainly wasn't the science. Other districts? Hot spots? I get that.... But ... OUR COUNTY? Jesus.... If sports can be s*** down in my ZERO Covid county, it can happen anywhere. I sincerely hope that wasn't political! Much love and MAD RESPECT to Thunder! Your point is very much taken!
  7. In fairness Thunder, I think it's a fair question, and a reasonable parallel. I'm not totally sure I understand what you are asking, but I think you are asking if I believe the mlb is capable of maintaining a HEALTHY WORKPLACE? Can they hold players accountable to maintain social distancing and wear masks? If this is what you were asking, I would say YES. Tough, but I think they can. Will there be outbreaks? SURE! * But.... Some who are arguing otherwise are STILL WATCHING THE GAMES? Right? So, they implicitly support the season going on. To answer his general question, I do believe MOST people can return to work, if all reasonable precautions are taken, most need to return to work. Are there risks? Ok course! Is the death rate for healthy young men extreme? NO. Scientifically speaking, NO. Should I dictate to a young MLB player who is generally speaking EXCEPTIONALLY HEALTHY, and at an EXCEPTIONALLY LOW RISK of death or even being hospitalized, that this young mlb player, with perhaps no other means of supporting himself, that his season MUST BE SHUT DOWN? My answer? NO! I sure as hell don't have the right to tell this kid he is an idiot for taking this, IN MY OPINION, "very reasonable risk." JUST AS, I believe, neither I or the government has THE Constitilutional RIGHT to close down any business, except in cases of EXTREME DANGER or RISK. For MOST citizens, going to work does not constitute an "extreme risk" in most counties in this country. Cities? Sure. Some cities are still under "extreme risk." BUT EVEN CITIES in NY, NJ, MA, Conn, & others all over country, restaurants and other businesses are opening. The way the mlb is doing this, they seem to be taking pretty decent precautions? So.... should they be playing? I think so. Unless of course the Sox just keep sucking balls. As for teachers. Yes. I am a teacher, and argued vociferously for schools in our ZERO COVID DEATHS county to open with precautions. I literally just found out that I lost that argument, and we will open with distance learning. I don't agree with the district not following the science of almost NO RISK WHATSOEVER HERE, but that is not my call. We will see what teachers have to say when austerity measures are instituted to deal with devastated budgets? In our situation, I believe we are decimating budgets because of hysteria. OTHER DISTRICTS in HOTSPOTS are a different case altogether. The MLB is a different ballgame altogether. p.s. I do honor Thunder's request to keep politics out of this, but in this case, & I could be wrong, the gentleman was pressing me on a reasonable parallel? IDK.
  8. With all due respect, I don't think ANYBODY is acting like everything is normal. Most Americans are returning to work under strict guidelines. CONTACT SPORTS are unique in this age of Covid reopening. Perhaps football is the unique considering the extreme contact? Baseball? Seems they should be able to keep it at a reasonable risk, but having a 22 year old, I know that these young guys have a hard time taking it as serious as they should. If they are in the workplace... clubhouse, there needs to be strict oversight. Not sure if that's happening? In hotels? Does anybody believe these young guys are being vigilant? Sure. Some are, but we can't control all behavior, and I don't think it is the job of an employer. These are tough times, and most conduct is "risk v reward." Even the most cautious I know, are getting together. even 3 who I know, who are amongst THE MOST EXTREME social distances & Covid crazed, have been to small gatherings. Mostly outdoors, but with their guards down, it's surprising what THEY will allow THEMSELVES to do.... i.e. hug, bro hug, sit too close outdoors, etc. Anyway.... football is certainly a concern. No doubt about it. MLB? They need to tighten oversight!
  9. So.... You want the season shut down? Are you watching the games? If so, I'd say that's a bit inconsistent? My question was a serious one, as I've been exceptionally busy this summer working and doing major work on my property. You answer with "dolt." ok.... I was simply asking if any player has died or become gravely ill... i.e. hospitalized for any length of time. If so, WHO and for HOW LONG? Pretty simple questions. I've been clear. I want the season to continue, but from what Ive seen with players, it does not appear that the mlb and individual teams are doing a great job insuring that players are social distancing. You've seen the videos of guys being mock hand shakes & such, without masks & in each other's faces. Just dumb, but understandable for young guys. I've been clear that I want the mlb to continue this season, but that requires extreme caution. Again... are you watching the games? Do you want the season to continue? and do you understand that some are likely to be infected? I'd add.... Do you think these young men should have the right to return under strict guidelines ^ mandates? Did you expect some might contract the virus? I did. Then comes the question... How sick did we expect most will get? Finally.... Is it a reasonable risk for these young men to take to make 10's of millions? That is up to them, their families, the league, and cities. So.... Dolt? ok. Whatever floats your boat.
  10. VERY NICE bunt Beni. A slump buster indeed!
  11. You gotta love seeing that from your #1 guy!
  12. HELL OF A HUSTLE PLAY by x-bo
  13. NOW..... the Title of this thread is.... "Will the MLB suspend the 2020 season?" OBVIOUSLY.... because of Covid-19 Just want to establish those facts. OK... . No. That does not qualify, unless he plays in the mlb. If he did, as with 78 talking about E-Rod https://www.nbcsports.com/boston/red-sox/red-sox-shut-down-ace-eduardo-rodriguez-over-minor-complications-covid-19 Red Sox shut down ace Eduardo Rodriguez over 'minor complications' from COVID-19 SERIOUS? Sure! "deathly ill?" idts ANYWAY.. . Since the season has begun, and since we are questioning whether to "suspend the season?" I'd suggest that my questions are not out of line? WHO HERE WANTS THE MLB SEASON SHUT DOWN BY ANACDOTAL EVIDENCE? WHO HERE WANTS THE SEASON SHUT DOWN BECAUSE SOME PLAYERS TEST POSITIVE? Who else is "deathly ill?" I can't control whether THEY feel safe playing. THEY have the option to opt out. Are questions about whether to suspend the season "against the rules" on a thread entitled "will the mlb suspend the 2020 season?" Just asking for a friend?
  14. Right. Anyway.. . I hope it doesn't get shut down. Now.... if the Sox continue to drop 2 out of 3 to ... The O's & other s*** clubs? SHUT IT DOWN. We'll decide after the 1st 5 series.
  15. Directly baseball related, and I didn't bring it up. Somebody else started talking Covid, with the MLB outbreak. So, it makes perfect sense. I just don't think baseball needs to be shut down. Others do. I respect their opinion, I simply disagree based on the science of most not getting very I'll. That's all. No offense intended.
  16. It was a serious question. Now.... admittedly, I've been crazy busy + work this summer, but I hadn't heard of ANY players dying, and almost none getting even REALLY REALLY I'll. I get, as well as most, the unique risk of passing bodily fluids with athletes. It just seems to me to be the CLASSIC risk assessment analysis. Like with most teachers.
  17. Have any MLB players or their family members died from Covid-19? * I haven't heard of any? * The SCIENCE seems to suggest that healthy adult athletes are handling this just fine? IDK? * Just as healthy children and healthy teachers? Have any MLB or NBA players become really sick?
  18. I'm really getting to like Verdugo!!!
  19. WOW! How many of those will we see from JBJ this season? Pretty much every game!
  20. Sorry! But I hate seeing Lin in there!
  21. This could be a great game to see what this lineup is made of? Do we battle back? Claw our way out of this hole? JBJ hits .385 for the year! He will finally turn the corner, and MASH all year long. NO SLUMP!
  22. I think Verdugo hits a GS here?
