  1. There is a big recency bias among redsox fans.
  2. Agee he needs to get a shot sometime this season or He becomes trade bait or Holt is traded.
  3. Actually the manager has been talking up Holt this spring.
  4. I understand that but I don't think they are going to platoon Pablo. We will see. I think Hernandez might be a better version of Holt.
  5. How can they keep Hernandez off the team .
  6. I agree with you on this. The Yankees did it to try to get the team going.
  7. Exactly. If he hits Beni up in the order he is pretty sure he's ready for it, since Farrell has been conservative with this in the past.
  8. I believe the Yankees did it once or twice in the late 70s, it was either Billy Martin or Bob Lemon.
  9. Why would it be foolhardy for him to make the roster, who would be the more established player he is taking the roster spot from. He is already 27. He is not some great prospect, he is a guy they hope can be a quality bat off the bench, with some versatility to play outfield and the infield corners.
  10. Yes, hopefully redeems himself like Hanley last year.
  11. Pablo with 2 home runs today, looks like he's healthy and going to be productive.
  12. Rutledge was with the team all year injured for most of it. When the sox had to take him off the 60 day disabled list either they had to add him to the 40 man roster or lose him. Colorado picked him up once we designated him for assignment.
  13. I think once they traded Shaw they wanted him back, no need for him until that trade happened.
  14. I think they have already woken up to it, waiting for his defense to catch up to his bat.
  15. Seems like a lot of wishful feeling on your part. Can't just look at worst possible scenario. Thorn burg is already throwing off the mound good chance he will be ready, if not 10 day disabled list. Smith is also throwing off a mound projection is mid may return I would bet in June. Bullpen not really a worry for me. Lots of hard throwers.
  16. Shaw was worthless from June on Pablo will be an upgrade. Youngsters should keep getting better not going to be much of a difference.
  17. Without Ortiz they may score a few less runs, but a big upgrade in left and probably an upgrade at third could help offset it. It's going to be a versatile offense.
  18. Even if price is out(which I think he will be fine) we will have replaced him with Sale, which going against last year is an upgrade EROD had almost a lost season he looks good this spring. Wright missed the last two months last year. The 93 win team had a lot of replacement starts last year.
  19. It was his first game this spring I'm sure he will ramp it up.
  20. Wonder if he ever has played third before. Love that they build this flexibility.
  21. We still have Holt and Marrero. It comes down to if Rutledge is better then a replacement level player and you can just replace his spot during the season if you need to. Example Kelly Johnson and Aaron Hill still do not have jobs, is Rutledge better then either of them?
  22. Farrell has spoken highly of Hernandez this spring, I know it would hurt depth, but I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that Rutledge will make the team.
  23. Obviously injuries could be a factor, if we are not devastated I will say 95.
  24. I'm going to guess next off season will be about extensions and a couple role players.
  25. Amazing it has been that long since we repeated, who would have thought.
