Batting leadoff has a certain prestige to it . It always has . I am well aware that analytics says your best hitter should hit second . I don't care . Mookie likes to leadoff . And he has excelled in that role . Why mess with that ?

For starters , put Mookie back at leadoff . I know it seems like a small thing , but he wants to lead off , does well there and the team won it all that way . Stop letting analytics call the shots . Start playing good , aggressive, winning baseball . Don't be hesitant to run , stolen bases were a good part of the offense last year . As for Cora , it's okay to be a " player's manager " , but sometimes you have to get tough as well . These guys deserve a kick in the butt right now . Time to snap out of this daze .

The lineup is not Cora's fault . It is being made out by Harold Nerdwell from the analytics staff . Harold has a lot of clout these days .

It is high time this team woke up and started playing winning ball . After a dismal road trip , they were supposed to turn things around on the home stand. So far , they are 2 - 2 against two of the worst teams in MLB . Let's go . Cut the crap . Shape up .

Maxie , you are being extremely truculent today . Even more so than usual . " Marathon " in this context, refers simply to the length of the season . Plenty of time to find your stride and catch up . The cream rises to the top sort of thing. We always get back to the small sample size thing . We all know what it means , but we still can't help getting excited about them . By the way , there is no such thing as playing with house money . Once you have won the money, it is yours . Be smart with it . Don't be so willing to give it back .

The bullpen is not a factor when your starters take you out of the game early on . The test for the pen will come when the starters settle in and we start getting into a lot of close games . For whatever reason , the team in general has stunk on this early season road trip. Hopefully, some home cooking will straighten things out . But I still think that the offseason was not too good . Standing pat is seldom a good idea . Overconfidence and complacency is never a good thing .

The drop in velocity is definitely a concern. There is no getting around that . Hopefully, the velocity increases as the weather improves.

Not just that , but the whole off season seemed to be " No problem, we've got it made . " Seemed like that to me , anyway . Spring training was the same thing .

In my view , there has been a smug complacency and self satisfaction throughout the entire organization ever since they put the duck boats away . We are seeing the results of it . We are fortunate that the Yankees have not gotten off to a good start .Hopefully, the debacle we are watching tonight is rock bottom and serves as a wake up call . Hopefully, they will get back home and turn things around before it gets any worse . It goes without saying that there is a lot of talent on this club .
