  1. Vazques is another super-duper hitter.
  2. Here he comes. He is a terror with the bat.
  3. I'm not saying he should have bunted there. I was just pointing out that Bogaerts hasn't hit at all since his return. Did he do a minor league rehab assignment? He needs one.
  4. How many balls in the dirt does Devers swing at here? Let's do an over-under.
  5. We have Jackie Bradley coming up. He won't let us down!
  6. I swear you can't find one African-American in the expensive seats at Yankees stadium. I've been looking all night. Instead, you find the old, white, Manhatten, corporate crowd.
  7. Bogaerts hasn't hit since he came back.
  8. It's painful watching Devers play 3b. Watching Devers at 3b is like little league all over again.
  9. Some of his trades have been brutal. And his draft picks aren't replenishing the system. You couldn't decimate a farm system more if you tried.
  10. Something to think about: Logan Allen could surpass D.Price as a better major league pitcher next year. Though, 2020 is more likely.
  11. I wonder if one of his secondary pitches turned into a plus pitch or something like that? I would like to see him get a start in the major leagues at some point soon--skip one of Sale's starts to keep him fresh for October. If Beeks keeps pitching like this, you have to take a look at him, don't you? And forget moving him to the bullpen at this point, not with these numbers.
  12. I would be willing to trade Pomeranz for a rental, but I would want more if Bradley is included. Who cares if you trade one rental for another. In either scenario, the Red Sox aren't giving up a long term piece.
  13. Benintendi too, he has been a disappointment so far. You expect this kind of crap from Bradley--he has always been a streaky hitter with the chance to have a terrible year, but we were hoping for big things from Benintendi and he has disappointed through 1/6 of the season.
  14. I wonder if the Red Sox should dip into their SP depth, trade a guy like Pomeranz who isn't going to be here next year anyway, and look to improve the 3b defense. They would then move Devers to DH, giving him some work at 1b. They have the depth in the starting rotation to replace Pomeranz. Maybe Mike Moustakas? That would involve a 3 team trade: Pomeranz going to team X, in turn, team X trades prospects to Royals and Moustakas goes to Boston. Manny Machado would be even better, but the price (in terms of prospects) would probably too high for Boston. Then again, if you move Devers to DH, you are forced to play Martinez in LF, and thus you weaken LF defense. But since Benintendi and Bradley aren't hitting right now, you would improve the offense by adding Moustakas and subtracting Benintendi/Bradley.
  15. Devers is terrible at 3b. Do they have to move him to 1b next year?
  16. I don't know if Peter Alonso is for real but I would call the Mets and offer B.Swilhart for Peter Alonso. At this point, I guess the Mets wouldn't do it, but they are very desperate for a C. However, I'm not sure if B.Swilhart even profiles as a full time catcher anymore, and, even if he does, would the Mets trade a guy who is raking in AA?
  17. Chris Hatfield spends his life figuring out which prospect is 1, 2, 3, etc. Deep thinker.
  18. I missed Anderson. That's one Dombrowski draftee that is performing well. Unfortunately, he was traded away. I missed Shawaryn. I thought he was in the system before Dombrowski, but I now see that isn't the case.
  19. I wasn't really focusing on Groome; I was looking at all of Dombrowski's draftees and the performance level isn't there yet (Chatman is hitting in Greenville and that is a good sign but he is 23 years old and so we can't get excited about him until he performs well at the Double A level). The sample size is pretty small, and maybe some of these guys will emerge. It hasn't happened so far, though.
  20. This has been very noticeable. He will continue to decline defensively as he gets older. He also seems worse without Joe Girardi there. Sanchez really belongs at 1b or DH but the DH spot is forever gone unless they can turn Stanton into a LF. Brian Cashman really screwed this up.
  21. Can we find one prospect, drafted under Dombrowski (Red Sox tenure) that is excelling right now? I can't find one.
  22. The Red Sox can't risk losing Swihart.
  23. This plan sounds reasonable to me.
  24. A related question: does anyone remember the Yankees playing this sloppy under Joe Girardi? The Yankees sloppiness is quite noticeable. Why get rid of Joe Girardi? He won a W.S., and did pretty well with a team that was going through some kind of rebuilding period. He was one win away form the W.S. last year. And then Cashman replaces him with a guy who never even served as a bench coach. Brilliant.
  25. At some point this year, I would expect the Red Sox to move Beeks to the bullpen with the idea of promoting him to the major leagues as a one inning shutdown lefty reliever. He could be very good in that role, better than any bullpen upgrade through the trade market. Even if the Red Sox move Beeks to the bullpen this year, I would continue to develop him next year as a SP.
