  1. The best asset have this Off-Season is Christian Vazquez. Cheap had a good year, important position, everything that gets value back. You have to give up something to get something back.
  2. Sunday night they asked on ESPN 5 Major Leaguers, all sort of new stats, the best one was WAR. Blackmon said the best one, Wins After Runs.
  3. Going all out for 2021, you must be talking about Pitching right? 2 years older of Sale and Price and a barren Farm in Pitching, as far as Game changers. You want to do it all over again? Pay big bucks for Pitchers.
  4. Also playing the Orioles 19 games. And kicking their ass.
  5. Agree. He's at the point where you are now overpaying for Defense only. And he's fading as season goes on. Of course whole team is.
  6. Time to hire a GM that's into Development. Man the Dodgers did it right. Young cheaper line-up (at the moment), and #3 ranked Farm. For 3 years in a row they paid HUGE luxury tax penalties, and they still built a strong Farm. That's the GM we need.
  7. Here's the big question Mark for me next year, what are you going to get from Sale and Price? You absolutely need 1 to be a Stopper, this year they were all over the place. A full season from 1 who has to be dominant. Another year older. Usually goes other way as you get older. Reset and Sale and Price older. Even smarter.
  8. I'm just trying to bring some common sense. Last year highest Payroll worked won an unreal 108 games, OK never expected that this year. What I didn't expect was a team basically the same, with a slightly higher Payroll, have the decline it did. I expected at least 95 wins with this team, with such poor teams throughout the AL. And minimal injuries to the Sox. To me investing high payroll in this team is a gamble, I know all teams are gambles. But when you go from one extreme to another, if I was a Owner I would be very cautious in my spending. Weird year, from the way it was constructed. Strong Starters and weak BP. Bad thinking by Upper Management.
  9. This is Teams Players 2020. Easier to see how things go. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/boston-red-sox/payroll/2020/
  10. Of course not now.
  11. Here's a projection for next year, but of course not nearly complete. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/payroll/2020/
  12. Seems to me the Sox didn't care about 1st penalty either, But really concerned about 2nd penalty. That to me tells me Henry might be rethinking it. Otherwise should have gone all in once your past it.
  13. OK what do you think its going to go next 2 years.
  14. Sox have spent nearly $480,000,000 last 2 years, and I use to say the Yanks buy Championships. Cant say that anymore.
  15. Only 1 team won a WS with the Highest Payroll since 2011, last year's Sox. Couldn't go back further, bet it's even longer. Henry is into numbers, bet his advisors and Minority Owners will point this out.
  16. OK buddy, we'll see.
  17. I don't think you will ever see the Sox go past even 1st Luxury Tax penalty again, as long as Henry owns the team. I think he will get more involved in spending after this season. The current Luxury Tax threshold is $206,000,000. You should be able to put a WS contender on the field without coming close to that threshold. Right now we are $228,700,637. The Cubs are next 219,125,039. 2,625.008 over the Cap. Lucky they play in a weak division. Only 2 games up in 1st place. Funny pattern here, one present Sox GM, and 1 former 1 with highest payrolls.
  18. Sox were 6 in the loss Column for final WC after getting beat by Rays and Yanks, then they played 7 games against (1 suspended), against 2 weak teams KC, and Angels. Now they are 8 in the loss column. It was not over after Yankee series, it is now for sure, and I'm with DC on this Cora gave up. 6 in the loss Column with 9 weeks to play and Fans said it is over. Never understood that. The last WC gives that hope. Your not going for Division. Its now 8 in the loss column with 8 weeks to play. If your not playing to win, just to rest, now its over.
  19. Because we won the WS, with basically the same team. 3 years ago Yanks went further then us, this year we wont make the Play-offs. So without that WS, we would be hurting. So I am glad we won the WS, but without it we would be an epic fail at 240+ million a year, this year.
  20. Jete was the BEST!
  21. That's our fallback. hahaha. I do it my buddy at work who's Yanks Fan. Razz each other constantly. Problem is he keeps coming back to 27, though. A-Hole.
  22. Very good chance the Yanks will win more games then us last 2 years, good thing we did win a WS. Otherwise we would really get razzed.
  23. Sean McAdam, had a big article yesterday, talking with his contacts. He basically said 2 things that he thinks will happen. 1. DD will be gone. 2. Sox will scale back on spending this winter. They want to get to 190-200 million dollar range. Don't expect big Free Agents, being signed this winter.
  24. 8 in the loss column to the Rays.
  25. Knew it was coming.
