  1. You reset for next year, if under the Cap this year right?
  2. Move him pay 80% of his salary then, get a so-so Prospect. No need to tie up an Outfield Position in the Minors, where another kid could get the chance. That's stupid too. He's in limbo because of his salary move him, otherwise now your making 2 mistakes, on 1 player. Minor League numbers he put up this year, teams would take the chance, providing the Sox foot the bill.
  3. What would be Stanton's primary position, if he were Traded to the Sox you think? You cant Trade Devers, looking for 3rd baseman for years, and very important position. Move him weakens team, as crazy as that sounds.
  4. My view on FA's is this, I'm only signing a guy if we are weak at that position, and the kid you have in the Minors is a few years away, and your really not sure he has Major League potential. Otherwise it's promotion within for me.
  5. Brentz is hitting .308 with 8 HRS this year against Lefties, Rusney is hitting .395 with 6 HRS against Lefties. Sorry, I'm with Rusney on this. I know a lot go by OPS Rusney has a 1.085 Brentz is at 1.059 this year, against Lefties. My whole point is no need to look, you have a kid in the Minors. It also sends a message through out the Minors, if you work hard, you get an opportunity with the Sox, Front Office doesn't pull your pud, and go outside organization. Rather have our own home grown kids, anyway. I know if I was kid, or VET, Minor Leaguer who has done everything for promotion, and Sox keep signing FA's, I would get out of organization. No need t work hard, it wont matter.
  6. I don't think so. Brentz is hitting over .395 this year against Lefties?
  7. I'm not getting rid of JBJ, he's gotten a lot of key hits in critical situations this year. He is hitting .276 with RISP this year, that's good, with great Defense, I'll take it. Also hitting .292 with Runners on base. Fantastic, keep the line moving. Everybody remembers Devers HR against Chapman, but JBJ drove in the 1st run with 2 outs, when nobody did anything against Montgomery. I'm at the point I like seeing JBJ in tough parts of game at bat. 2 years ago I never would have said this.
  8. Read an article that Rusney lost 15 lbs. and brought his family back from Cuba, including his children, and he is different man this year in the Dugout, great Teammate. People don't realize how much distractions, affect a Player. New country, different language, customs, and no family to fall back on, if your struggling. http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=1737473383&sid=milb Check out this HR last night to Right Field, guy got Power.
  9. Rusney should be given every opportunity next year to win the 4th Outfielder job. You have to be an idiot to worry about the contract, when a guy is hitting to the tune of .395 against Lefties this year, and proved in Triple AAA he is doing his job, in CF. He is the Pawsox best player this year. Your suppose to be promoted when you do things like this. Sox are paying his Contract one way or the other. MAYBE he can earn it. Brentz or Rusney no need to sign anyone in Off-season for 4th Outfielder.
  10. Bet Dodgers would. Sox Owners aren't poor. Also 35 million?
  11. Rusney is absolutely crushing Left Handed Pitching this year. How can you not use his bat in Sept?
  12. I see the difference too.
  13. Dodgers don't need Kershaw, that's what's scary. Been unreal without him. Roberts doesn't get enough credit as a Manager.
  14. The thing about Nunez is his swing, looks like its made for Fenway. Have to consider him.
  15. This again ^ Its the kids and Trades that's made a difference to help this team not the FA's. Hanley and Price? 50+ million sunk in 2 guys, you think they are worth it?
  16. This ^
  17. Dodgers 50 games over .500. Pretty impressive too. And they are playing better baseball without Kershaw, and A-Gonz starts his rehab this week or next, and he might not even crack the starting line-up, that's even more impressive. Edit: A-Gonz started his rehab, should be back with the Dodgers next week.
  18. I would like Nunez back too. Time to move on from Holt. Like Holt's style, but seems Nunez would provide more Punch, with the same Versatility. Salary is the problem. Brentz should get a shot for what is needed as a 4th Outfielder. It's mostly against Lefties, and occasional start against Righties for rest for others. Looking at value.
  19. Sox would be stupid letting Brentz go, with Chris Young probably gone. Last 5 years hitting against Lefthanded Pitchers, in the Minors. 2017 .308 2016 .295 2015 .266 2014 .303 2013 .272 He can hit Lefties good enough, for the salary. Another team will see this and sign him. I would take the gamble to save the salary, to use in other areas.
  20. Not here to argue, just saying if he thinks he's going to make some huge contract, he might be surprised. At this point, might as well develop someone, to do what he produces at this point. Save the money. Nobody pays 20+ Million for a SS who doesn't hit for Power. You would be crazy to do this. Then again if Yankees could sign Ellsbury, for what they did, anything is possible.
  21. Does DWAR mean anything? He's the only SS of the top 21 in a negative number. -0.6.
  22. How about this .181 BA 2nd half of season. You want to go by Month next? .277 June, .163 July, .200 August. Steady decline in every aspect. I know BA doesn't mean everything, right? Just like last year, ship is sinking.
  23. Devers has now tied Bogaerts in HRS, in what 2 weeks maybe more.
  24. Bogaerts is hitting a HR for every 70 at bats at this point, I don't know if I would trash that swing and go to a different approach. Swinging down and slapping at the ball, is something Iglesias would do, not a kid his size. Cant believe some of the Slugging % by some of the SS's this season. Fenway is made for the pull hitter, good you go to all fields, but it's counter-productive in this Park. At this point in his career he's losing money, I'm not offering him a huge contract. Keep the money for Benni and Betts, and even Bradley. Boras is his Agent, I would have a talk to him. Teams want HRS, to pay the big bucks.
  25. I keep hearing he's working his butt off with Butterfield defensively at 3rd base, that's what is impressing me.
