  1. Way Martinez hits to right, he's dangerous in Yankee Stadium.
  2. Man, if E-Rod just gets consistent. Does real good against a good hitting line-up, and never consistent enough against lesser line-ups. He really could be something special.
  3. That was a weird at bat for Torres, what was really confusing was Vasquez calling 4 Curverballs, out of 5 Pitches. Almost like thinking 1st was open, so don't challenge a Rookie, face a Vet. in Gardner. Even if you intentionally, unintentionally walk him, and face Gardner, your going to have a hard time Doubling him up. Soon as Barnes fell behind, Vasquez should have challenged the Rookie, looking who's on Deck. To me on Vasquez, and the Pitch calling. You wanted to put pressure on the Rookie, if you concede the Run, so be it. Not good to put winning run on base.
  4. Pawsox got 2 hit, Man that team looks pathetic.
  5. Tonight's game a little more important me, not only avoiding the sweep. But my reason is Sabbathia. He absolutely dominated us last year, with basically this same Line-up, but without JD. Cant let this guy think he's in our head. If I remember right E-Rod had a hell of a game against the Yanks late in the season in the Bronx. Pitched a beauty.
  6. Not worried about this series as much as everyone is. It's May. Seen these 2 teams doing this for years. What worries me, going forward, is injuries. Yanks have the Reserves in the Minors, to overcome key injuries. We Don't. Thornberg is going to be a huge key to our success this year. He's important. We need a reliable 8th inning shutdown Pitcher. Who can get Lefties and Righties out.
  7. Rivera was actually tougher on Lefties. He would break bats against Lefties with that Cutter. .215 against RHB .209 against LHB. Maybe good idea, to bat JBJ against Chapman, good at bat there, might give him some confidence. Hard not to see he was batting .088 against Lefties this year. Chapman is really tough on good LHB's, so you don't lose really much anyway.
  8. Wondering how Anderson Espinosa is doing? Cant find nothing on him. Nevermind, he's done for the year, this year. Pomeranz trade looking more and more favorable for the Sox.
  9. Including last night, the last 10 games the last 3 in the bottom of Order, (With various players, don't matter), is 18 for 101, .178 BA with 11 RBI's. Not asking for the world I could live with .240 with the bottom 3, and good Defense.
  10. https://www.milb.com/milb/news/milwaukee-brewers-no-10-prospect-mauricio-dubon-out-for-season-with-torn-acl/c-275827100
  11. You cant sustain, a 162 Season with a 6 man Line-up. You need the bottom of the Order to at least produce, Productive Outs. Your shortening up the game for the Opposition. Basically instead of a 9 inning game, your making it a 7 inning game, Offensively, by giving away Outs.
  12. Holding few Runs as possible starts with Pitching, Defense only compliments this. You better have very good Pitching, for the year when you are relying on less Offense.
  13. Interesting the Sox have committed 16 errors and the Yanks have committed 25 errors so far this season.
  14. I work 2nd shift, so I get to look at replays, and occasional Weekend games, but in the last week Nunez has hit 3 or 4 Ropes right at Outfielders, that if gone a couple of feet either way, different outcome. Is he hitting it on the button, and getting Bad Breaks, or hitting lazy flies, and weak grounders?
  15. Consistent and non-productive outs at the bottom of the order, stop the other 6 productive hitters getting extra at bats in a game. Could be difference in a close game. Outs matter in the game of Baseball. Cant afford to give any up easily. That's why with bottom of the Order not producing you need Mookie at the Top to make sure he gets as many bats in a game. Batting 3 or 4 might have him miss an extra at bat in a game.
  16. So far this season, Sox are hitting .285 against RHP, and .228 against LHP.
  17. I see a better chance at Devers turning it around Defensively playing in only 89 games at third base in the Majors, then Bradley turning into a good Major League hitter, with 1847 at bats in his career. Yet we still give him the chance.
  18. He played so little at higher competition, went from Double AA played 9 games Triple AAA, then went to the Majors, last year at 20 years old Played 86 Minor League games last year. Then Made a huge jump, to the Majors. Because it was a need. Not giving him enough time, to grow into position. Have to live with it at this point, it's called growing pains. I know next plan is by many Pay big bucks for another FA, instead of giving a home grown kid a chance. See I expected it, so it doesn't bother me. I also think given more time you'll see improvement. This game is hard.
  19. Maybe not but, I'm not the Manager of this Team, who see's him at a Closer look then I do. Who was an ex-infielder, and would have better knowledge then me, if he is a problem at third. Have to rely on the experts, that more time at position in the Majors, he will only get better.
  20. Way I look at it if your going to give JBJ a chance to improve his hitting, you got to give especially one that is 22 years in his First Full year in the Majors a chance too, to improve his Defense.
  21. Last year Rusney hit .395 against LHP.....this year so far .390. I could never see a batter that smashes Lefties like that, sitting in the Minors because of money. Sheffield is a Lefty, had no problem with him. By the way JBJ is hitting .088 against Lefties this year.
  22. Saw Sheffield last year, in Double AA, then today at Triple AAA, had 1st inning jitters, and some wildness, as expected. Then settled down, and looked good. Very good. I go to more Double AA games, because stadium is so close in Ct. Just felt like getting out today, McCoy a nice Stadium Minor League Baseball Rocks!
  23. Rusney hit good today, 3 line drives for hits 2 off Sheffield. Haley pitched a good game. Sheffield had 1st inning jitters, then settled down and looked very good. Pretty sorry line-up if you ask me. Not much there. Talking to people about Thornburg, he was hitting 97 mph last night.
  24. Went to PawSox game today, talking to others about Thornburg, he's hitting 97 down there, and looking very good, so far.
