  1. I'm with you on that too, Fans got to disregard all GCL and DSL hoopla. It starts in Single A. I get it was 18, and throwing hard, and had good stuff against lesser competition. Full season in the Minors best way to evaluate. Best way to evaluate GCL and DSL Prospects is if they stay in those leagues for 1 year, and move quickly to Single A. Espinoza did, and struggled in Single A Ball. Maybe injury, I don't know. Urias of the Dodgers had no problem, moving quickly through their system, almost exact same situation. Every level he dominated, and he might be younger. I will say TJS hurt him, Padres waited to long to have it. He had it last August, think he was injured last May. Basically done for this year. Urias is older.
  2. Reading Sean McAdam he asked about Sale's next start, and Cora hinted that he will Pitch him last game against Detroit after All-Star Break. THIS is SMART!! He'll get 10 days rest, and essentially miss 2 starts, and shouldn't hurt the Sox going forward. Now were starting to think.
  3. OK everybody makes mistakes, but the length of those contracts are hurting in the present and future. That's why never give may years in a Contract. Player could be great in the present, but never pays for itself last few years, and handcuffs a team, when they do really need to make moves. I want the best years and I want him out. 7-10 year contracts are killers. Unless kid is Trout's age.
  4. Good call I was skeptical.
  5. DD was a key contributor to their other Championship too, thought he Drafted Beckett, and AJ Burnett, and Signed in the International Draft, Miguel Cabrera before he left the Marlins. Forgot he Drafted Adrian Gonzalez too.
  6. I am going to keep an eye out on Kutter Crawford in Greenville too. Last night 6.1, 4 hits, 1 ER, 1 BB;s 6 K's. ERA 2.84 4-4 on a 36-53 team. Lets see how Tanner Houck does tonight against a Powerful Winston-Salem Team. Good outing against very good competition, would be great.
  7. For this season JD has been the biggest difference maker since Manny Ramirez. Hyers is OK without JD I just don't know if he would have been a big contributor. As Earl Weaver once said. "Nothing else matters in the game of Baseball, except for that little lump of dirt in the middle of the Diamond".
  8. Coach that doesn't get enough credit is Dana LeVangie.
  9. I think Pitchers that throw strikes will get the "Frame" pitches more. It helps, but not to a point, where your pulling it in 3-4 inches. Its all on the Pitcher to me. Your all over the place, Frame all you want, wont make a difference, unless Umpire is blind. And we know that cant be true.
  10. If we didn't have JD, it wouldn't matter about our Defense.
  11. That 2013 Team was one of the best Mentally Tough Teams I have ever seen. They could grind out wins, and I loved it.
  12. With you, I like Swihart. Hope he rocks. In Portland he really impressed me. Then all these crazy thing happened to him.
  13. Funny thing Leon catching Price he has a 3.09 era in 18 games. 13 HRS in 119 innings. HR every 9.1 innings. Vazquez catching him Price has a 4.32 era in 47 games. 37 HRS in 262 innings. HR every 7.0 innings. Maybe Leon goes tomorrow too.
  14. Agree, makes more sense if he goes Thursday and Sat. Gives Leon a good break going into All-Star break.
  15. He's catching Sale tonight? I figured his next 2 starts would be Thursday and Sat.
  16. If the Sox can shorten up the game to 7 innings, this team will be very tough. This is the direction you want to go, with the Play-offs down the road. Relievers, are key in the Play-offs. Too bad Thornburg got hurt, and is still working his way back. He's here but not back. Now Dombrowski scares me, we have some talent in the Lower Levels, and if he uses them, we better win it all.
  17. Bobby D is on fire. 4-4 up to .260 71 RBI's. This is very good stuff. 75 RBI's not 71 dummy. https://www.milb.com/milb/news/bobby-dalbec-trenton-kemp-help-salem-red-sox-bash-way-to-win/c-285206894
  18. Sox play 35 games in 42 days if CV comes back the 20th of Aug. Out of those 35 games 22 are against Teams that don't have a .500 record or better, and the Rays are 2 games over .500. 207 at bats 14 RBI's, .185 BA with RISP, so I don't worry about the Offense, just the experience with the staff, that Leon already has. Do it right with the days off, again I'm not that concerned. Next man up. Now Carlton Fisk, different story. Also 20 of those 35 games are at home and that helps a lot.
  19. Again all I'm saying if they work on his pace and efficiency the sky is the limit for E-Rod. I think his talent exceeds Prices, at this point. When he is on he could throw a No-Hitter in any start.
  20. Kid down at Greenville who is 21 years old has more innings than E-Rod. 103 innings to E-Rods, 99.1 innings. Simply because he doesn't walk too many, or throw a ton of Pitches.
  21. I look at age, he should be able to handle 7 innings easy. And he could if he was efficient. Dempster was up there in Age and a lot of innings. Also you think that his ceiling #4 Starter? If that's all he is going forward, then I must be wrong about his talent. I think he has the Talent of being a #2 on this team, THIS year.
  22. Wouldn't be a bad signing for Depth, put him in Pawtucket and see what he got.
  23. Dombrowski kid. His Minor League hitting stats weren't eye popping. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=machad001dix
  24. I love E-Rod, honestly if he could get more efficient, he has the stuff to be in Cy Young candidate within a couple of years. Coaching staff has to keep an eye on him he doesn't get the Price Syndrome, 5 minutes between pitches.
